“Capt. Ludlow, please come get your grandson while I also go get mine!”
Mrs. Velma Stepforth was cracking up, watching her precocious nine-year-old grandson Vertran talking with equally precocious five-year-old Lil' Robert Ludlow, sitting on the porch having a “man-to-man” conversation about the business their grandfathers were about to do.
“Because, see, I'm the company bigmouth for the Ludlow Bubbly, and you do real good videos and stuff, and, see, our families are gonna do big business so we should work some things out.”
“OK, Rob, I'm with that – it's a good idea,” Vertran said. “Got any ideas for a commercial?”
“Yeah, because, see, I talk a lot, and I still have all my stuff from the Lofton County Virtual Business Conference.”
“Yeah, Rob, you did real good on that!”
“I still know what Papa had me memorize, so I can do it for video, but, see, I got another idea!”
“I'm listening.”
“I was looking at this video where this tall guy is sitting at this long bar with lots of stools. When the guy that pours the drinks came by, the tall guy said, 'pour me another.' We need to get them to pour the Ludlow Bubbly – and another one, and another one!”
Vertran thought about this.
“It would have to be a soda fountain, but, yeah, that's a good idea.”
“What's a soda fountain?” Lil' Robert said.
“It's like a coffee shop, but for soda – more bubbling up,” Vertran said.
“A soda fountain full of Ludlow Bubbly – I love it!” Lil' Robert said.
“Actually, that would make a real good commercial,” Vertran said. “How many flavors are y'all dong now?”
“I don't know, but they are all good!” Lil' Robert said.
“Tell you what,” Vertran said. “When our grandfathers get all the papers and stuff signed, find out, and we can go from there.”
“You've got a deal!” Lil' Robert said.
“A pleasure doing business with you, Rob,” Vertran said.
