“So, how do you feel now?” Rev. Obsidian Stone asked his most interesting counseling client.
Thomas Stepforth Sr. turned from the fireplace where he had burned the will that had excluded his daughters from inheriting because of their old quarrel, and there was a smile on his face the likes of which Rev. Stone had never seen.
“Free,” he said. “On my side, all of the past is now put away.”
“That's right,” Rev. Stone said. “Now, of course you will make a new will and trust and all that, but that is now a question of the future, which you can now focus on: making a future different from the past, for yourself and for your family.”
Rev. Stone placed his hand on Mr. Stepforth's shoulder.
“This is what it meant when it says in Scripture that God the Father canceled the record of the handwriting against us, in Jesus Christ, so that He can now be a holy and yet gracious and loving Father to us. His standards remain the same, but He has empowered us by His Spirit to meet them, and is patient as we grow and mature in Him.
“Go now, Thomas Stepforth Sr., in the power of God's own Holy Spirit, and be an instrument of the grace of God the Father in Christ to your own family, the past sins now buried in Christ.”
And Mr. Stepforth did, smiling into the afternoon sunshine of yet another whole new lease on life.
I am also smiling.
Yes ... it's just nice to see even fictional folks, doing the right thing...
In my mind, they are as real as we are. lol
