They're Basically Using Our Data To Print Cash

I don’t really think most people realize just how much of our personal data is up for grabs. And to make it worse, how tech companies feel like they can use our Data if we don't say no loud enough. We are actually now in a world where everything we post, write or create is basically by default, fair game for AI companies, That just can’t be right.

Take the whole opt-out approach that’s being pushed, basically giving AI companies the green light to scrape our data unless we specifically tell them not to. It’s like walking into a store, and the cashier gets to automatically takes your wallet unless you tell them otherwise. Sure, you can say no and they might stop, but why should the onus be on us to protect what’s ours?

Data is vital to AI, I understand that. It needs it to exist and get better. But why should people's Facebook posts or some musician’s lyrics be used as fuel for that machine? Big tech isn’t exactly strapped for cash. They’re literally printing it. Companies like OpenAI are already valued in the billions of dollars. And yet, instead of paying for the data they need, they want a bunch of struggling artists to foot their bill while they rake in more money.
