Hello fellow Hivers 🤗. It is Hechi Hechi-Hiving again.
In case you are wondering what HH2 is, it is a short form for Hechi-Hiving Number 2 which means the second post of Hechi on Hive.
Before I share my thoughts on #Networking which is the major focus of this HH2, I want to thank everyone who interacted with the post I made yesterday which is my introductory post on joining the Hive community. In case you didn't read it and care to know more about me, please visit my profile, read, engage and follow me.
In addition, I am still learning how this Hive community works and currently trying to build enough resources that will allow me follow back, engage and interact with the members of the Hive community.
That said, let's read my thoughts on Networking.
Last night, as I was ruminating about my life from 2017 till now, it occurred to me that my penchant for intentional networking has brought me most of my wins. Thus the inspiration to share my thoughts on networking, for it was in the course of building my network and being useful to members of my network that I got information and recommendations that helped me secure a means of livelihood that's been serving me for past four years as doctoral researcher and environmental specialist .
I see networking as a social interaction tool that's capable of turning lives around for good. o. The sheer fact that an intentional effort at getting to know people, interact and be useful to them can bring to us a whole lot of expected and unexpected benefits is something many of us are yet to fully appreciate.
It is a tool that many people are yet to fully appreciate because I am aware that many of us are sleeping on the greatness of networking and how it can be deployed to our advantage and the benefit of all. We should leverage on this social tool and improve our lives. Even animals (pets) are good networkers. After all, what is the joy in living if we aren't improving the quality of our lives as young people - a goal networking can help us achieve.
If we utilise this tool rightly, it is most likely going to keep giving us benefits as we advance the relationship with members of our network. I say most likely because networking and new networks sometimes bring painful experiences. However, the focus is the benefit which outweighs the drawbacks.
Also, it is important to mention that many who think they are good at networking aren't really good at it or are unto something entirely different from networking. This is because these set of people I am talking about are either users or don't know how to deploy the social tool of networking rightly. The idea behind networking is initiating and building relationships for the betterment of all parties and not a case of one party using the other and never being of benefit in anyway. Any deviation from this idea is something different.
The goal should be to warm one's self up to a potential members of one's network, get to know some things about them, find alignment and differences in thoughts, beliefs and areas interest, find how one could be of benefit to these new members and how the networking relationship will help advance one's quest for a better life. It should be a case of intentionally cultivating relationships for the benefit of all parties.
So, I am encouraging everyone to harness this social tool very well, for it really does help us advance our course as well as those in our network, thereby making a better living for us.
Thanks for reading my thoughts. I hope you enjoyed it. Please leave comments and feedbacks.
