Colours Of Love!

in Freewriters3 months ago

Derrick, a little boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), saw the world in vibrant colours, each hue depicting a different feeling which even words could not describe. Every morning, he would splash his arms, legs, and at times even his face with paint. For him, colours were not just colours, they were a mode of communicating with the world around him, a world that could not understand him.
Kimberly, his mother who understood that this strict routine provided comfort and predictability, was supportive of his creative inclinations and as such their house was full of paints and canvases.
One day, she came back home with a huge canvas and asked Derrick to draw on it.

In a minute, he filled the large canvas with deep reds, bright blues, sun yellows, and grass greens. At first, she was puzzled by his painting but when she looked closer she started recognizing the love-shaped painting and felt so much pride, at this pure articulation of his feelings.

The next thing he did brought tears to her eyes. He walked straight to her, pressing his paint caked hands on her face;

"Momma, see....e ....co....lou...rs....of.... Love!" He stammered as he rubbed in the colours on her face.

Kimberly knew that in those actions, her son was letting her know he understood the emotion of love and in his small world, it meant all the beautiful and bright hues of colours.

Thank you very much 🙏

You're welcome

Touching story, my friend @edith-4angelseu, I have only one question left: is Derrick a real boy?

A very big hug my friend. 🤗

Derrick is a fictional character!
Thank you very much my friend, for stopping by. A big hug ❤️

A lovely story which reminds me of the boy of next door. His love and habit wat jumping on a trampoline 24/7 outside no matter the time of the day or the weather circumstances and after that he threw colourful water balloons.

I'm glad my story is relatable to that of the boy next door.
Thank you very much 🙏
