A while back I was commissioned by one of my boss to coordinate a meeting with some of the board members in our organization. It was my first time of coordinate a meeting of that magnitude, so I was so nervous you can read my emotions from afar.
As the meeting commenced, I did my best and coordinated the meeting as well as I know how to because I knew what was at stake and I did not want to disappoint my boss.
The meeting soon came to an end and although it did not go as I have planned, my boss who gave me the assignment thought the meeting went well, and better than he anticipated. This was strange to me because all I could think of was that he set me up for a failure, he actually thought I would fail or probably expected me to fail. But in the end, I guess it was worth the wait and worth the effort. My team were happy and I thanked them so much for their help and support. It was indeed a strange commission, what I thought and what my boss thought were two different things but it was great in the end.
