To coerce someone against his or her will give you what you want but place you in a bad position. It is practically bullying. I don't think bullying is a crime but it does not speak well of the fellow that bullies his neighbor.
Most people coerce others for selfish reasons, and it does not speak well of the bully. The person coerced will be victimized and feel threatened by the coercion.
I would say you should not yield despite the coercion but I know it is not easy to stand your ground especially when the circumstances do not speak to your favour. But we all need to be brave.
