During my thesis days at Harvard extension school, I was given to write on ancient roman history. To be honest I didn’t know how to go about it, but to achieve this cause the thesis ought to be more than a thousand pages.
Well the first thing that will come to every lazy student's mind is to scout the internet for any materials you can lay your hands on, well for me this was not the case. I decided to take the traditional route because I wanted it to be an adventure, something when I am old I could tell my grand kids about my experience in a rocking chair.
As walk along the streets of London entering every book store/shop I could find to collect materials, in order for me to come up with a detailed write up for my thesis.
I spent most of my time studying the ancient culture of the romans, how they were undefeated in their battles. Well, it was a really crazy experience the roman soldiers were regarded as the strongest there was as far back. Regarding science and technology the Roman’s we here are not left out, their innovations are made tasks and easy to execute.
After dealing with all books concerning the task at hand, I stepped out of my apartment to get a cup of coffee and donuts from Starbucks.
I made my way to the train station in order for me to catch the first train and then a taxi to Starbucks, I had had this planned in my head because I really want to make it back on time for the Manchester city vs Manchester United Finals for the UEFA cup.
Well thank the heavens I got there on time, which meant my plans pulled through.
Well at Starbucks I meant a fellow international student, we are in the same faculty but in a different department.
Upon sighting each other we exchange gestures and shared a table together, we spoke about the progress of our thesis, and I was open to her that I was running out of ideas and materials to work with. She responded to me by saying “have you tried the museum”?, I replied no that I haven’t yet.
She smiled back at me as she wrote down the address of the museum, this gave me a relief I thanked her accordingly and we exchanged contacts so we can keep tabs on each other.
Back in my home town, it’s referred as a gentle man act when you pay for the bills after a lady. But over here in London it’s a bit different, before I was able to reach out for my wallet she had cleared her bills. I was a bit astonished, she even cleared mine too.
I glanced at my cell and found out that the soccer game was going to kick off in about an hour. I quickly requested a ride, boarded the car and l changed into my team spirit with my jersey crested with my best player’s name Kun Agüero.
Well as the crowed cheered we didn’t win the match as Agüero scored the winning goal to calm the title, It was a tiring experience as I tried to exit the stadium premises in order for me to board a train at the train station.
Got home late, headed towards my bed. Morning came the next day as I prepared to go the museum, and got to the museum early enough to join a tour party which made the job a bit easier for me. Looking at the magnitude of space confused by the edifice, it’s definitely possible to get lost in there.
A personnel of the establishment came towards us and he introduced himself as the tour guide. He also handed over some templates containing a map of the museum indicating the exit points.
The museum has in-store artefacts dated B.C,A.D and some recent times. I was able to gather enough resources, materials, Jpegs and motion videos of the experience.
Which improved my morale, and I was able to write my thesis with the information I have gathered.

Thanks for sharing! It's such a simple and great idea to take a more traditional route to research. I might have to go to the local university and do the same. The internet is convenient, but the distractions, blue light strain, it gets old. At least for those of us who remember a life before omnipresent digital devices.
True mate, I can’t wait to read your own tales about how it went.
