I want to say very quickly that I am NOT a poet. I struggle with poetry and have very little technical knowledge of how poems are constructed. Saying that I still enjoy and appreciate them, and very very occasionally I get an itch in the back of my mind to try my hand at writing one.
It just so happened that yesterday morning was one of those times. It was a morning unremarkable from any other, however something about it stuck in my head as interesting, dare I say inspiring.
All I could think of was 'yellow pants and dinosaur T shirts' (the outfit my son wore to school that day), repeating over and over in my mind. Like an itch I just had to scratch, I just knew I Had to do something with it.
I had no clue what to do mind you. It was only once I was driving home from a friends house after dropping my son off at the school gates and our daily coffee at a friends café that snippets of the lines above started to form.
I hope you enjoy it. It may be mundane, but I hope it is pleasantly so. Its a small slice of our life.
