I believe the industry of modeling is stupid anyways. Just get normal people to try on the clothes so normal people can see what it looks like. The industry is as such that they make people who simply put on clothes into superstars and force them into a particular body image to make them more sex appealing so the designers can sell some of the ugliest clothes imaginable for an outrageous price and label it art. Think about it. When was the last time any of you watched a fashion show and saw a model cat walking and thought to yourself “I need to save up my money to buy one of those outfits.” It’s just a pastime hobby for the bourgeoisie as they mock us with ugliness and insist it’s beautiful and sell it for prices none of us could afford and constantly remind us of our peasantry in all aspects of it. More or less like the clothing of royalty back in the day or like the fashion shows in the hunger games. It’s a rich people thing bc they got nothing better to do.
That being said, the issue of body image portrayed through models is not the question we should be asking. The question we should be asking is why do we care about models to the point where the industry is still thriving and we get absolutely nothing out of it? They profiteer off your insecurities and by keeping the object of your insecurities out of your reach, they enhance those insecurities.
Shoving fat people into fashion week won’t solve this issue. Turning off your tv, ignoring the fashion stuff, and actually doing something productive will. Stop feeding into the bourgeoisie’s gluttony.
