He watches the scene, cursing under his breath, for nearly two decades as an undercover agent, he always covered his tracks, but now an oversight persisted: the transmitter under the bed.
He knows the local police are sniffing around after the reporter's disappearance.
It won't take them long to trace the signal to this room and from there, to him.
The darkness provides some cover as he re-enters the hotel.
Quickly, he retrieves the device and wipes off the fingerprints.
It was a close call, but his experience helped him this time.
The next slip-up could mean the end of his dark career and his freedom, he'll have to be more vigilant.
This is short but powerful.
