Under the scorching sun, he desperately sought shelter.
Suddenly, he spotted an abandoned hut in the middle of the field.
Relieved, he headed for it, but as he opened the door, a shiver ran through him.
Inside reigned a sepulchral darkness, broken only by the eerie chirping of cicadas.
Confident that it would be temporary, he entered. Great was his mistake.
The floorboards creaked under his feet, and before he could react, a dark abyss opened up and engulfed him in the murky depths.
The heat had been a warning he had fatally neglected, now, the chill of fear consumed him.
