In this new blog, I'll talk about how good having a bicycle is, and how healthy, so let's dive in!
Having a bike is a very good thing to have, not only it is healthy for you, but it can also save you transportation money and it can make you some friends that you would always bike with, and the most important part is that it's environmentally friendly and it's exciting! For me, it's my favorite free time activity. On other occasions, biking can be a sport just like soccer. So let's dive more into the history of bicycles!
It all started when a German inventor called "Karl von Drais" introduced the Draisine which is also known as "The Running Machine" or "The Dandy Horse", a two-wheeled vehicle powered by pushing their feet against the ground. But in the 1860s, two French blacksmiths called Pierre and Ernest Michaux developed the velocipede, and the only thing that was new about it was that it had pedals attached to the front wheel. People called it "The Boneshaker" because of how uncomfortable it was. By the 1870s, James Starley, an English engineer re-created it again penny-farthing, but it didn't look the same as bikes these days, it had a large front wheel and a small rear wheel which gave it good speed but poor stability. The best upgrade was when John Kemp Starley and James's nephew invented the "Rover Safety Bicycle", which introduced two equally sized wheels and a chain-driven rear wheel making it safer and more practical. It looked like a modern bike. Later in 1888, a guy named John Boyd added gears and freewheel mechanisms, and this is when it looked just like bikes today.
That was everything for now.
