Your memory came back to me, my darling,
on a morning of sunshine and Sunday peace,
when in the silence of birds my lost gaze
sank in the days that are already old.

So distracted in your absence I found myself,
that in bitter sighs I drank bitter tears,
Alas, love, before the sweet memory
that my soul always conquers and renders surrendered.

I searched for you beyond the horizon
but I did not find you even in phases of the moon,
witness of a love that is only memory.

Nor in the glow of the night, nor in any celestial vault, I found you.
I did not find you, nor in the immense emptiness of the orb,
and so your memory returned, but not your glory.
