Flyin' Outta Here (State of Emergency)

in Freewriters4 years ago

"We're living in a state of emergency."

"That would be nice if that wasn't true," said Robot 2. "It would make great fiction. But reality is playing with my programming."

"What should we do?" asked Robot 1

I have written plenty of stories about Robot 1 and Robot 2. I've never revealed their real names. Getting sued is an ugly business.

Also, for entertainment purposes, this story is a reboot.

In this story, these robots have had enough of this world. It doesn't make sense to them

"I know what we can do," said Robot 1. "We can fly out of here."

"Where to?" asked Robot 2.

"I have no idea," replied Robot 1.

What they needed to do was to make sure that they had enough fuel.

"I know an expert," said Robot 2. "Let's go visit him."

"Where is he?" asked Robot 1.

"Up north somewhere, very cold."

Off they went to fly north, to find the robot flying expert. The place was easy to find for our robots.

"Here's the flying expert," said Robot 2

They waited outside a giant metal door outside of a snowy white mountain.

"I hope our expert doesn't come through this door," said Robot 1.

"Why is that?" asked Robot 2.

"Because I expect him to……."

They could both hear a noise up above. A flying robot coming towards them.

"......fly "

"Hello there. I am Robot 42. How can I help?"

"We want to fly to another planet. How can we do that?"

"Easy," said Robot 42. "I have a recharge pack. This will give you enough fuel to reach some nearby planets. You can also refuel on those if you want to go further."

"Great," said Robot 1. "Are there many robots flying around the universe?"

"Yes," said Robot 42. "Some send a virtual postcard. Some come back?"

"Why would they come back?" asked Robot 2

"They miss their home," said Robot 42.

"Shall we continue our adventure," asked Robot 1.

Robot 2 paused before answering.

"Of course. If we miss home, we can always come back "
