Plant a Tree

in Freewriters16 days ago

Life will never be the same.

An order, waiting for the delivery, it'll come soon.

I didn't even think it existed. I'm getting ready to plant. Just a few more days before it arrives.

Maybe I need to ring to check again where it is.

Installation free. When I say installation, I mean plant.

Whatever, it means the same thing.

“Hello, is my tree on the way?”

Of course, when you ring for these things, you have to find the order number, relay your security details, and give everything else that they want to know.

That includes a survey.

“No, thank you. I don't want to do the survey. I just want to know where my tree is.”

Friday. It will be installed on Friday.

“I wonder if this is the world's first e-tree?”

Friday has arrived. Up at 6am. Can't sleep. Delivery is usually not until at least 9am.

Try to go back to sleep. Excitement keeps me awake.

May as well get breakfast.

Better not go for a shower, because you know the bell will ring.

Pass the time.

Last delivery is usually 5pm. Must be close.

5pm. Not here.

Maybe the driver got lost.

6pm

Still not here. Better give them a ring before they shut for the weekend.

Doorbell rings.

“Sorry, I'm late.”

“Are you here for my e-tree?” I asked.

“E-tree. I didn't think there was such a thing.”

“Yes,” I said. “I ordered one.”

“How does that work?”

I'm confused.

“I thought you were meant to be the one to install it.”

“No,” replied the visitor. “I'm here to check your electric meter.”

“Oh, that must mean….

…..no e-tree today.”
