That football match that humbled me.

My name is john, I am a football enthusiast.

I have always loved football even when I was a child.

I have played street football and I can comfortably tell you that I was good.

I have always wanted to be a footballer, this is because I really did have passion for it.

I have in a time then joined a football club even before I started secondary school.
We were called the "YOUNG STARS'
Our team was made up of kids from the trenches. We played quality football and we won competitions too.

In that club, I was the most loved and and the best in the team.

My childhood teammates are on my list and they can attest to the fact that I was good.

I stopped playing with the club immediately I gained admission into FEDERAL GOVERNMENT COLLEGE, OKIGWE,IMO STATE.

It was really sad for me and my teammates as they watched me bid farewell to them.

Until today, I do not know what happened to that club as I never made my way back to them.

At FGC OKIGWE, I knew I was Multi talented.. I have always believed in myself. I knew there was something in me I needed to show to the school, hence why myself and my twin Inyang Michael Itsnobigdeal started throwing backflips.

Throwing this helped us gain attention from our mates and senior students who loved what we were doing.

I equally began to play quadrangle football and I played so well that most of the Saturdays, it was all football for me.

I was loved by my hostel boys and the next hostel in the same compound with us.

It was time for INTER HOUSE FOOTBALL COMPETITION.

I can comfortably say that I was the first JS1 BOY to participate in that competition.

I was like MESSI OF PSG FOOTBALL CLUB.

I was a Star to watch. You know that feeling when you are playing with people's father who were much very older and stronger than you.

My style of football was great as I had my way around the ball each time the ball was on me.

I was cheered by my mates each time I made an attempt to score a goal.

I got threats from my senior's who scolded me and warned me to be very careful with the way I dribble them.

I got encouraged by isah montari who told me to continue playing my game.

I couldn't join the school team then because there were a whole lot of players on ground who made up the school team.

What i did was to keep watching them train.

I have just entered SS2 Third Term when I was fully into the school team.

I can vividly remember how miss olebuike, the sports mistress walked into my class and asked who was INYANG JOHN, I was sleeping in class as there was no teacher as at that time. My seat mate woke me up and I stood up,miss olebuike immediately told me I was the school captain.

The class clapped for me and she went away.

In my set, if I was given the opportunity to select the school first 11, I would have done that perfectly well but I couldn't do that because we had a coach already.

I knew the guy's that were fit for each particular wing.

We have just been invited by MARIST ACADEMY UTURU, ABIA STATE for a competition ranging from BASKETBALL, TABLE TENNIS, SENIOR BOY'S FOOTBALL COMPETITION AND JUNIOR BOY'S FOOTBALL COMPETITION.

AS at that time, our ss3 guys were still around so I couldn't Play with the senior team.

I was immediately asked to join the junior category.

Now the junior category was made up of most of my mates in SS2, this is because my school didn't have a junior football team.

When we got to Marist brother's one Saturday.

Funny enough, it was our visiting day and my mum had visited us.

I didn't have the opportunity to spend time with her as our bus for Marist brother's was already waiting for us.

We got to Marist. I loved the environment.

One thing I admired about the school was that, they took sports very serious.

It was time for our competition, I saw small small boys from Marist brother's carry boot and jersey to the peach.

In my head, I thought maybe they were bringing the boots and jersey for the boys that we were going to play with, I didn't know I was going to play with this kid's.

Immediately we got to the stadium, I saw those kids begin to undress,I saw them wear their boots and shin guard.

I was shocked, I told myself and my teammates that we were going to win this.

I looked down on those kids because I thought football was all about being big.

I was the captain of my team, I was the hope of my school.

My then SS3 BOY'S were already telling me to put in as many goal's as I Can.

The match has just started, I was confident enough.

To my greatest surprise, those kids played quality football.

I was totally lost in the competition.

I had poor ball control. I couldn't believe it.

Before I could say jack, those boy's made their way into the back of our post, it's a GOALLLLLL.

I Was so ashamed of myself.

When the ball was passed, a substitution was to be made from our side, I was shocked when I was substituted for another person to go and try.
At the end of the 90mins of play, we lost that competition.

I did not know how to face our sports mistress.
My only consolation that day was the HOT RICE AND BEAN'S that was served to us.

After eating that, we waited for our school bus to come take us back home.

After that day, I never underate size when it has to do with football.

Finally FOOTBALL NO BE ANYBODY MATE.
