This is my post for #freewriters 2581 prompt autumn equinox hosted by @mariannewest
This year autumn equinox has come and gone, next year's will be on Mon, Sep 22, 2025, at 2:19 PM, they have it down to the minute, on this day, there is no tilt to the earth's axis, which means it stands straight up and down, resulting in an equal amount of light and dark for everyone on the planet. As the days become shorter and the nights longer, our biological clock (circadian rhythm) could get disrupted. I found that on a quick Google search. All of the info in this post about the autumn equinox was found by looking things up on Google.
Someone who would have known all about it was my Stepmother, she followed the Farmers Almanac almost religiously. She would not cut her hair until the moon was right. She planted her garden according to the moon. I think there was a certain time to cut your fingernails. I wish I would have listened more but I guess nowadays I can google when to do these things by the moon.
I did not know the Equinoxes bring on the Northern Lights. I am not sure how it knows to do this but it might be the same way it tells birds it is time to fly south. The autumn equinox marks the last of summer and they know winter is coming.
We have Equinoxes, they are an equal amount of daylight and darkness received all across the earth and we have solstices which are the longest and shortest days of the year.
The Solstices is a turning point the the natural cycle of the year. It is a time to look ahead, not to dwell on the past. It is a time to take a break and think about life and where yours is going. This is the time you want to set goals. The two solstices happen in June (20 or 21) and December (21 or 22).
A solar equinox is a moment in time when the Sun crosses the Earth's equator, which is to say, appears directly above the equator, rather than north or south of the equator. On the day of the equinox, the Sun appears to rise "due east" and set "due west". This occurs twice each year, around 20 March and 23 September.
The Equinoxes are a time to look back on your life and inward at your growth, it is a time for self-reflection. We learn to let go of things we have been holding onto or holding inside us. I have some issues I could deal with, if I can only remember to do it on Mon, Sep 22, 2025.

I am hearing about this autumn equinox for the first time! Pretty interesting information. Thanks for this.
You are welcome, it all amazes me how someone would start to figure it all out, I mean when it happens, how did they know the other side of the world has the same amount of daylight as we did?
The precession of the equinoxes was discovered by Greek astronomer Hipparchus around 127 BC. Hipparchus noticed that the positions of stars in his star catalog were different from earlier Babylonian measurements. He concluded that the stars weren't moving, but instead, the Earth was.
I copied this from a quick google search.
May God keep us all alive till Sept 22, 2025. That's a date with man and nature really. Learnt a few things here too.
Amen to that. I also learned a few things while researching the autumn equinox.
