lI oved my last job. It was always a dream to have a practice of my own and work as a psychologist. I was always in awe of some of my clients and their strength. They had been mentally and physically abused, yet they kept going. Every time someone shared their story with me, I thanked them for their trust.
Things changed during COVID. We had to close our practices. We could do online meetings, but really, it wasn’t the same. I was called in to help the local nurses. They worked for weeks straight, witnessing everything change, from people clapping every night for our heroes to being mocked. And the rest of the day, they watched people die.
I think that was the beginning of the polarization. After that period, I closed my practice. Even good listeners need time off. And it was kind of scary to see the world change in that way.
