It must be sadness that haunts me,
Grey words in silence, a weight that suffocates,
Dreams lost, longings I can't reach,
The saudade of what never was dance.
Sadness, loneliness, sorrow or desolation?
Names that in me find their habitation,
Melancholy that in my breast nestles,
A constant echo of absence and wound.
In shadows of vague memories I walk,
Amid whispers of a yesterday that I do not desire,
But which embraces me with cruel tenderness,
In this sad melody that lingers.
A knot in the soul, a weight on the being,
An invisible burden difficult to overcome,
Such is the sadness that dwells in my breast,
A silent companion that treasures.
