The smell of new pages has always been a thing of joy to me as it brings back nostalgic feelings of getting new school supplies as a kid. I do not know why I loved school as a kid, but I know the smell of new pages always sent butterflies fluttering away in my tummy.
These days, at the start of a new adventure or experience, rather than necessarily with new pages or books, I still get that same feeling I used to get when I was a child when I first opened a new book. New experiences are so much fun for me, this is because it gives me the feeling that I am starting off on a new page in my life, but most importantly I feel like this new experience is a result of a chapter in my life just concluded. This makes the feeling of starting something new not daunting like when starting from scratch but exciting because I know I've got experiences from other endeavours.
With the presidential elections coming up in my home country in a couple of months, I have seemed to be overly attached to all things that pertain to politics. Recently, one of the Presidential aspirants was asked in one of his interviews about his thoughts on what he will do as President to all those in the present administration who have stolen all of our national treasure. He gave a somewhat unorthodox response that resonates with me on so many levels.
He said he will be a lot more focused on the job at hand to the extent that he gives putting the nation's economy back on track 90% of his time and would only give 10% of his attention to all the mishaps that might have happened in the past.
I know many schools of thought might disagree with him stating that we need to know where we are coming from to know where we are headed. Personally, I commend his mindset towards handling issues of the past, because no amount of physical or mental exertion can influence the already known outcome of the past.
It reminds me of a line from Lion King in which Rafiki speaking to Simba said
Oh yes, the past can hurt, but the way I see it you can either learn from it or run from it.
Brooding over past events just causes more and more pain, but concentrating on the things in front of us that we have a considerable amount of control over how they pan out seems to me like the more effective way to go.
A lot has happened to a lot of us over the course of the year, and personally, I have been through the loss of my best bud and companion that was my dog Onyx, which had me completely gutted. I found that I couldn't concentrate on tasks given to me and coming up with Hive content became a gargantuan chore.
I am glad for the amazing people I have around me that helped me get on my feet (special mention to a friend that has become family @wilmetcalfe), thanks to them I feel like I can continue chasing all of the goals I have set in life and start over on a new page but this time I'm starting from experience.

Getting back to real life does not mean disconnecting from social networks, I am also fascinated by new experiences, I find them super fun for my health.
Yeah, it shouldn't mean that but sometimes it happens. Thanks for stopping by.
Welcome back to action.
I love new pages too Pappy! And I like the way that this political candidate handled a very difficult question. That is a very wise response and I think that many of the past wrongs will be righted with this mindset about the past.
We are all turning a new page in our own stories each and every day… and each and every day is an opportunity.
Yesterday this mantra popped into my mind… and it was so good and relevant to what you have written here.
New day. New way.
Thank you for your friendship. You are like family to me as well.

P.S. A dog is man’s best friend… so I can completely understand how your feeling after that loss… it’s curious that even if a dog lives it’s full expected life we live on different timelines.
We can really learn so much about ourselves and this life from the love of a pet.
I hope that your feeling better about all of this… and that a new puppy will bring joy to your life soon.
There is so much pain to deal with in the past… but like you eluded to in this post… the past is un-empowering within the context of here and now. Even if this is where we came from and what has happened… we are all arrows shooting into the future.
All we can do is live and learn… let live… and let learn. Life and finality are all a part of this journey… and I think that having man’s best friend at your side really does make that journey better. ❤️🐕 yo
New Day, New way!!! Definitely adding this to our #doubleUp white paper
That is such a beautiful way to look at life.
I am really glad I have you in my corner, you are a fountain of knowledge.
Yes. I'm always in your corner my friend!
Your right Pappy. This mantra deserves to be framed somewhere... why not in the #DoubleUP White Paper!
Great idea.
