Prompt: A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
Season of Change
Like the Autumn trees,
I go through change.
Mood bluer than the sky,
gravity pulling me down
like the crisp leaves
who are destined to be crunched
by leather shoes.
But I am more than
the leaves that I shed,
I'm the whole tree
that needs to root myself
until the next sun shines
and greener leaves sprout.
Inspiration
Autumn often brings Seasonal Affective Disorder. I often struggle with change, and seasons are one of those changes that are hard to navigate.
The change in temperature, change in daylight. When I see Autumn-based pictures, that's where my head goes to. It's odd how a warm, orange colour can evoke the opposite, cold feeling. Perhaps because I've grown in Mediterranean where Autumn is the most Wintery feeling.
This is the first poem I've written in a couple of months, and I enjoyed doing this for the freewrite! #pic1000
Autumn is a timeless space where the nakedness of the trees marks the end of their foliage to dress up in spring. It is their yellow and orange colours radiated by the sunlight that weave the path of our time, because everything has its end.
and every end has a new beginning
Your poem reminds me of much great poetry and song that expresses this same thing ... the yearly tipping into cold, dark days is not easy for many, but, you are right: root yourself. I remind myself that on December 21, the earth begins to tip back in the Northern Hemisphere toward the sun, and I encourage myself by looking for the little evidences there are, every day thereafter!
It takes me until February or March to start re-setting probably! All the events around New Year and Holidays are also disruptive 😂
I actually tend to agree with you on that ... there is a certain artificiality to them, except perhaps in this "light" ... they are perhaps attempts to prolong the joy and light of harvest, and bring hope to the New Year. Think about how much LIGHT is a part of all holiday decorations ... but by January 2, all attempts fail, and we are left with the reality of winter...
las estaciones son cambios no son en el ambiente también se aplican en la vida, buen post!
seasons are changes are not in the environment also apply in life, good post!
Beautiful poem, and so the changes affect when they are not accepted especially when we enter in ages, leaving things behind.
Greetings
Your poem is a piece of interesting write up. I love it. I don't understand the autumn season much because we live in the tropical regions
I live in Mediterranean so it's usually not that big of a change but the Day Light Savings and less sunlight does make it weird. Like in Summer I go swim at 9pm and now at 6pm it's already dark before I can go for my walk 😩
