We started our hike with the hope we would finally be able to explore the cave at the base of Whodunit Mountain. We were not experienced spelunkers but we did from time to time explore different areas in the hope of sampling unusual bat guano. Recent research into a unique prairie dog virus led us to believe the origin was a bat. But, in order to test that theory we needed to sample bat guano in the local cave. However, the cave had to have a dry mouth in order for us to enter. Usually, we learned, that cave was flooded.
We needed that sample.
Slowly we worked our way around a path labeled Whodunit Cave. So far, no water, anywhere. The front of the cave was dry. We weren't sure if we would find guano that gave us the answer we were looking for. But, in any event, it would help lead us in the right direction. Maybe the answer to the prairie dog virus puzzle was in reach.
Fun interpretation of the prompt! Nice little narrative that's compelling despite the short timeframe used to write it 😁
Thank you very much!
