As hearts grew cold, disentwined
Words froze upon lips that refused to speak
Hands withdrew, eyes could not meet
Cold seeped into our souls bit by bitter bit
Until warmth was but a fading memory
Bound now by frost, still we could not admit
What once set us freely, readily
This winter must thaw before spring finds grace
