We love having guests at Christmas parties, but this year was very special and different. My children had already grown up and made their homes on another continent. That night, taking an anti-allergy pill for the dust, I took the tree box, the nativity scene, and the Christmas lights out of the closet. Luckily I had already painted the house a little, washed the curtains, a very Venezuelan custom, but I don't have the money to paint everything. That night and with the help of a niece I made the house look like Christmas with lots of lights.
But it didn't stop there, my daughter wanted them to experience making the traditional Christmas dish, making hallacas. And I had planned to make a few hallacas for Christmas dinner since there weren't many of us at the table. I had to go out and buy the ingredients for more hallacas.
My niece solved the cookies thing for me by preparing her tasty recipe and she helped me with the cheese. The salad was just adding a few more ingredients.
The truth is we had a fun activity at the Christmas table with the visiting couple, we shared recipes, drank cream punch and listened to carols and Christmas songs, while we prepared the hallacas. My children saw us thanks to technology from the other side of the world.
When I went to the tree to place the New Year's Eve gifts, I found myself in an exchange of cultures, while we placed a glass of milk and cookies for Santa or baby Jesus, they had brought stilts, carrots and cookies to place under the tree. tree for international Santa.

Esa noche y tomándome una pastilla de antialergico por el polvo, saque la caja del arbolito, el nacimiento y las luces de navidad del closet. Por suerte ya había pintado un poco la casa, lavado las cortinas, una costumbre muy venezolana, pero no me alcanzo el dinero para pintar todo. Esa noche y con la ayuda de una sobrina logre que la casa pareciera de navidad con muchas luces.
Pero la cosa no quedaba hasta allí, mi hija quería que ellos experimentaran el hacer el plato tradicional navideño, el hacer hallacas. Y yo que tenía planeado hacer unas poquitas hallacas para la cena de navidad ya que no eramos mucho en la mesa. Me tocó salir a comprar los ingredientes para más hallacas.
Lo de las galletas me lo resolvió la sobrina preparando su sabrosa receta y me ayudo con el quesillo. La ensalada era solo colocar algunos ingredientes más.
La verdad pasamos una divertida actividad en la mesa de navidad con la pareja visitante, compartimos recetas, tomamos ponche crema y escuchamos villancicos, canciones navideñas, mientras preparábamos las hallacas. Mis hijos nos veían gracias a la tecnología del otro lado del mundo.
Cuando fui al árbol a colocar los regalos de la noche vieja, me encontré en con un intercambio de culturas, mientras nosotros colocamos un vaso de leche y galletas para Santa o el niño Jesús, ellos habían traído zancos, zanahorias y galletas para colocar debajo del árbol para el Santa internacional.
