Two siblings, Jamal and Priyanka, worked strenuously from a very young age in the suffocating coal mines of Jharia. Both children and old people give their lives for the longed-for "black diamond", many have died in the search and extraction of this cursed treasure.

Jamal, 13 years old, was a little older than Priyanka, just 10 years old. Despite his young age, Jamal' s greatest dream was to be able to give a better quality of life to her little sister. Jamal always despised his pathetic birthplace, which he considered to be the worst kind of dump.

After 15 years, Jamal became a wealthy mining engineer who, corrupted by power, betrayed all his principles and what he once believed it was the right thing. He now owned the vast majority of Jharia's mines, yet Priyanka, who could never afford a decent education, kept the values that were always instilled in her by a younger, but purer Jamal.

Priyanka continued to work in the mines and refused to accept the favors of her ambitious brother. Jamal always hated to see her so tattered and certainly was much more repulsed by that annoying smell of hot coals emanating from her sister's rags. Clearly the wheel of life had turned many times and they were no longer from the same social classes, much less could they share the same principles, both brother and sister took very different paths. Priyanka was always proud of the place she comes from, despite the difficulties she had to face.

Five years later, Priyanka managed to achieve her purpose in life after graduating as an educator and then educating kids in the poorest villages of her province. With her savings, Priyanka was able to set up many charitable foundations with which she built several schools not only in Jharia, but throughout India. Meanwhile Jamal ended up consumed by power, after his second wife left him on his own, he became a prisoner of alcohol and drugs, his companies and businesses ended up going bankrupt one by one. Now the sister that he had so much despised was the only soul that offered him peace and refuge.

"You are the only place where I got to know goodness truly exists, little sister," Those were the last words of a dying Jamal, doctors told a grieving Priyanka that her brother had died from a heroin overdose.
