I know this will all be story someday and our pictures will all become old photographs.
Love will always find a way,
Find a way to ruin your life and shatter your defences.
The purpose of war is peace,
The twin rivers of love and fear, life in death,
You're fighting a war, except you have no idea what war does to you.
How it scrapes off little pieces of your soul,
How the days begin to mean less, and the nights get more draining and suffocating.
Life doesn’t grind to a halt when a tragedy happens and it’s amazing how we find ways to cope.
Life is full of twists and turns, we just have to stay on our feet,
Go through the fire, not smell like smoke, give us all hope,
Stay in the fire, embrace the pain.
Standing at the top of that mountain, I thought life never looked simpler.
But that was crap, sometimes a view is just a view.
Some people forget how to be 16 once they've turned 17,
How did I miss it, how come I didn't reach just a few feet further?
What rises of ruin?
Unlimited determination, limited capabilities,
I can see it, the moment where you're not sad but alive,
You can see the light on tall buildings,
And finally feel like a part of something with those you love the most in your life.
No longer at the edge of the lives and stories of those you've lived through.
So do hang on,
