Before we can talk about belly fats, we need to understand the full anatomy of the anatomy
the abdomen.
what are the 7 layers of the abdomen?
- Skin: This is the outermost part of the abdomen
- Subcutaneous tissues. Note that is is divided into Camper's Facia and scarpa's facia. Note that the Camper's Facia comes before scarpa's Facia (xu et al ., 2022).
- External Oblique Muscle
- Internal Oblique
- Transversus abdominis muscle
- Tranversalis Facia
- Parietal Peritoneum
Now! You might be 🤔 wondering that I have not mention fat. Right ▶️ 👍
The fat is located in-between the skin and the external oblique muscle.
Smile... that is the subcutaneous tissues. Please don't forget that we also have visceral fat. Visceral means internal organ. I will dive deeper into that soon.
Fats people have yellow adipose tissues or fats while slim people have brown adipose tissues.

Abdominal fats are surrounding your visceral.
Too much subcutaneous tissues can be signs of intraperitoneal fats.

According to kumar et al. (2015), the fat at the upper abdomen was from to dark yellowish colour while that of the lower was yellowish in obased people.
Now that we have known a little bit anatomy, the implications of too much fats are
- Stroke
- Heart diseases
- Type 2 diabetes
- Stroke
- Cancers etc
