Mi nombre es Ariadna y agradezco de antemano esta oportunidad que tiene como objetivo sacar a relucir las raíces africanas en los pueblos de América. La influencia africana en nuestra amada isla es más que multifacética dado que se manifiesta a través de diversas tradiciones las cuales avivan día a día su vigencia. Las raíces africanas están presentes en diversas esferas pero las principales son, sin duda alguna, la música, prácticas religiosas y la danza.

The African influence on our beloved island is more than multifaceted as it manifests through various traditions that daily enliven its relevance. African roots are present in various spheres but the main ones are, without a doubt, music, religious practices, and dance.
Durante mis años universitarios tuve el privilegio de unirme y aún pertenecer a una cátedra llamada ¨Cátedra África-Caribe¨ la cual refuerza y fomenta la interculturalidad. Una de las principales misiones de nuestra cátedra es mantener informados a nuestros jóvenes universitarios acerca de África y su carácter en la isla desde los inicios de nuestra historia. La exponente más audaz y comprometida con esta bella tarea es, para mi fortuna, mi amiga @gretvictcald. Ella ha trabajado activamente para la fomentación de la cátedra y es nuestra digna representante en ella.
During my university years, I had the privilege of joining and still belonging to a department called "Africa-Caribbean Department" which reinforces and promotes interculturality. One of the main missions of our department is to keep our university students informed about Africa and its role on the island from the beginnings of our history. The boldest and most committed exponent to this beautiful task is, fortunately for me, my friend @gretvictcald. She has actively worked to promote the department and is our worthy representative in it.
En varias ocasiones tuve el honor de participar en varios eventos en donde se tocaron temas tan interesantes como la religión y su correspondiente significado. Además, al ser una estudiante con amplios intereses en el plano investigativo, he podido hacer varias investigaciones referentes a las raíces africanas, tanto en África como su vigencia en Cuba. Una de mis investigaciones más interesantes es sobre el cristianismo aladura y sus influencias en el estilo de vida del pueblo africano. Para que tengan una idea de esto, la Iglesia del Cristianismo Celestial es una iglesia institucional africana fundada en 1947 por el pastor Samuel Biléou Joseph. Samuel habría tenido una revelación divina durante un eclipse solar cuando se encontraba en un bosque y como resultado de la misma se sintió llamado a fundar una nueva iglesia. Esta representa una rama de los protestantes que pertenecen al cristianismo. Esta nueva religión fue creada para rescatar a los hombres de los fetichismos, del anquilosado catolicismo y de las iglesias evangélicas. En la actualidad cuenta con más de 10 millones de fieles repartidos por Benín, Nigeria, África Occidental, Europa y Estados Unidos.
On several occasions, I had the honor of participating in various events where such interesting topics as religion and its corresponding significance were discussed. Additionally, being a student with broad interests in investigative research, I have been able to conduct several investigations regarding African roots, both in Africa and their relevance in Cuba. One of my most interesting investigations is about the Aladura Christianity and its influences on the African people's way of life. To give you an idea of this, the Celestial Church of Christ is an African institutional church founded in 1947 by Pastor Samuel Biléou Joseph. Samuel reportedly had a divine revelation during a solar eclipse while in a forest, and as a result, he felt called to establish a new church. This represents a branch of Protestants within Christianity. This new religion was created to rescue men from fetishes, from the stagnant Catholicism, and from evangelical churches. Currently, it has over 10 million followers spread across Benin, Nigeria, West Africa, Europe, and the United States.
Al estar siempre investigando sobre esta temática puedo ver su impacto y vigencia tanto en mi país como en el mundo. Sin duda alguna, es crucial su papel en la sociedad de hoy en día y es por ello que debemos seguir fomentando su conocimiento y reconocimiento.

Excelente que existan cátedras que busquen preservar e investigar sobre la africanidad en los países de América, pues aunque muchas de las costumbres autóctonas de los países africanos se han arraigado y tomado como propias en América, sus orígenes siempre tendrán una historia que contar.
Nuestra cátedra es fantástica dado que organiza espacios para debatir temas de todas las índoles. Uno de mis temas preferidos viene con la religión y es por ello que la mayoría de mis investigaciones han sido enfocadas en esa línea. Nos permite el hacer amplia nuestra perspectiva respecto a todo, danza, música y tradiciones. Sin duda alguna, es un verdadero regalo para el estudiante universitario porque es el mediador perfecto para conectarse con su africanidad.🌍🤍🇨🇺
