What's beneath the masked face?

Behind the pretty faces are sad generations,
Behind the smiles are hearts bleeding,
Seeking freedom and true happiness.

Everyone looks okay,
Carry their burden gracefully like a fine outfit,
Until you get to know the real them,
The pictures are camouflaged,
They are dying inside.

Take off the mask,
How happy are you?
Take off the makeup,
How pretty are you?

Take off the lies and pretense,
Are you pure and sincere?
In your heart of hearts are you selfless?
Or just for the gains and favors?

Take off the mask and do you!
Stay true and speak up,
Why die in silence,
Why be who you're not?

Life is not as complicated as you make it seem,
No one is ever perfect,
You do not need the mask to feel perfect,
Take off the mask and do you!

So many emotions and actions hidden behind the mask. Eventually, the acts wear out and the true self would be seen.

Yeah someday. Thanks for stopping by.

It's always a pleasure dear

This is nice. There is great peace in facing the world as your true self

Exactly. Thank you for stopping by.

The first thing that needs to happen is we need to see behind our own masks and love the person we find. In most cases, the masks we put on are to hide our own insecurities, not to please others. If we learn to love our uniqueness, the goods and the not-so-goods, we can start peeling away the masks and really connect with the world around us.

Your last two verses capture that well. We always make things worse than they are in our own minds. Nobody's perfect. Just be yourself and be heard. Nice work!

Thank you so much for your perspective and for leaving a nice comment, it is highly appreciated.

I think that the majority of people who use Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media frequently hide behind a mask.

Due to their concern for social integration and acceptance. They are aware that, in order to act appropriately in social circumstances, they must adopt a variety of social masks and personalities, even in their daily lives.

I also understand that many people deliberately repress their darker, more sinister aspects in favour of exposing their more socially acceptable ones, because I know that doing otherwise would often be social suicide. The face hidden behind their mask is the one they want the world to see!

Thank you dear friend for leaving a nice comment.

Very cool poem, as we say a lot in my country Venezuela, you never end up knowing people's intentions until a misunderstanding happens and that's how it happens a lot, we have to be honest with our life and our feelings, thank you for this piece ♥

Thank you for visiting my blog.

That is the raw truth about people in social media they always wear a pretty face and tell their sad stories but most of it of their own doing no one to blame but themselves they are obsessed with being the victim or being the hero in the end they are left alone and be alone forever.

Painful truth that most need to swallow.
Amazing poem as usual Amie

Beyond the mask is a truth we fear might hurt the world hence, we hurt inside to please the world.
Great piece
