That’s a good question. After thinking about it a bit, I think you could say that surrendering before a battle is actually fought hides the battle that goes on in a person’s head or heart to make the decision to surrender.
When we feel that something is worth fighting for, but realize that we are in an overwhelming situation and can never win, the decision to give up or give in doesn’t come without internal conflict.
