No Loitering

Watching on as they walk by,
From the corner of an eye,
The same from which a tear rolls down,
Upon the already sodden ground.

Small in stature and muddy of face,
Nowhere to go and belonging no place,
Walking toward somewhere undecided,
Alone with a life still unconfided.

You can stand anywhere, just not there,
Or there, but there will be somewhere,
Keep going on from here, move along,
I'm sure there is somewhere you'll belong.

Hung up and left upon the hook,
Body and mind violently shook,
Not to return and not to be seen,
To burn away as the brightest dream.

Leave and do not come around this way,
You were never welcome to stop and stay,
It doesn't matter what you hold dear,
We have need, but no want for you here.

Slipping through from place to another,
Moved along by once called brother,
To finally find a field for rest,
A suit and a rose upon the chest.

Where did you go, where can we see,
Like before, now again we have need,
A place for you has been put aside,
A place where you no longer have to hide.

Too little and too far gone between,
If you'd had looked you'd have seen,
A little grace is all we need achieve,
Instead we bow head to loss and grieve.

Pretty heavy words. Perhaps it is easier to mourn a loss than it is to prevent on and do the right thing. Thoughts and prayers in an instant rather than preventative solutions that take habits to form.

Perhaps it is easier to mourn a loss than it is to prevent on and do the right thing.

I think this is a big part of it. Sense of loss could be a way to redirect blame, to become the victim, rather than the perpetrator.

A very nice poem. I like the structure of it. I apologize, but I don't have much to say beyond that.

No need to apologise. These are hopefully for people just to read and extract a line or two that resonates to reflect on :)

Many of them contribute significantly to the economies of their host countries through labor, entrepreneurship, and tax contributions. Now they driven away. What the future hold to them?

It is interesting you read it in the way of an immigrant :)

Yes. That's the first thing came into me upon reading it. Immigrants.

The 3rd, 4th & 5th lines gave me chills. I don't know if it was the intention, but I guess it just matters on how it makes the reader understand and feel the message.

I went on a rollercoaster with this poem, but I really liked it. It rhymed well too, I find that most important on poems for them to have a good impact.

but I guess it just matters on how it makes the reader understand and feel the message.

I think that this is the important thing to recognise here and reflect on pieces that resonate with you :)

We understand the value of someone or something after we have lost them.

And we can lose so much.

A beautifully and sincerely written poem. No more idleness and idle wandering. One should know what one is doing and not live one's time to the fullest.

Idle hands do the devil's work, supposedly.

You can stand anywhere, just not there,

Keep going on from here, move along,
I'm sure there is somewhere you'll belong.

Dear @tarazkp !

I wonder where you believe yourself to be, Finnish or Australian!

I had this stupid idea that you left Australia because you had Indian ancestry!
I hope you understand my awkward English!

Nice poem sir.

The rhythm of the poem is something to be admired. Your choice of words though simple, the message sent across was deep. Beyond wondering, there is a place someday, a place of rest and beyond rejecting, there is a sense of loss and regret. your poem did resonate well with me thanks for sharing this masterpiece.
