Christmas In A Glass

Now I really needed this! California Pinot. The wine that got me started on my journey. I have gone astray, but rightfully so. Burgundy. What is there not to love? But how expensive the wine is from that region! I have forgot on how many great Pinot are made close to home, and at a fraction of the cost. Maybe even hundreds of dollars less when you talk about the quality. Here is a Russian River Valley, from an Old School Pinot Maker. Making Pinot way before the movie Sideways, and it really shows.

My wife, and I cracked open this bottle as we where setting up the Xmas tree, and I could not find a more perfect wine for the occasion. It was Xmas in a bottle! Really. Baked cookies, and spices emerged, and smacked you in the face. No Decanting needed. I am dead serious that to get a Red Burgundy of this caliber, you would easily shell out 60-100$ USD. I really don't know if it was because my last Burgundy was corked, or this California Pinot was so good, but I am back on the Cali bandwagon. So expect some more bottles from the Cool Climate Regions of California on this Blog, CHEERS!
