Reading the description of your symptoms, I really remembered my 20ies, when I got appendicitis. I actually remember the whole story a everything appeared and went away in a couple of days. Suddenly, I fell on the ground because of pain, and I had to be brought urgently to the hospital. There, I went into surgery in no time.
I didn't know the same symptoms could be connected to anxiety. I knew anxiety could lead to pain un the belly, but not necessarily at the level of the appendix. This was interesting to read.
To answer your question, I think the same holds for Western Europe. Without having appendicitis, there is little chance that a surgeon will just go for the operation.
I guess medical ethics are more or less the same everywhere.
