In Bandung, there are many historical buildings that remind us of the past. That is why the city of Bandung is called a silent witness to Indonesia's independence journey. Since long ago, this city has held many sweet and bitter memories of this country's struggle.

Almost everyone who goes to Bandung must take the time to stop by Gedung Sate. This building is one of the historical buildings and is often a favorite place for domestic tourists to see the museum inside. Even so, this building is still used by the local government as the central government office.

Surely you will ask, why is it called Gedung Sate? At first I was also strange with the name, why is a building named after a food. Especially satay, actually satay is famous in West Sumatra, but why is it in West Java.

Well, the reason is that the shape of this building is similar to satay. You can see a satay skewer on the roof of this building. that's the reason why it is called Gedung Sate by the local community and over time it has become very attached. Until finally this West Java governor's building became a famous landmark. Then the local government made this place an interesting tourist destination because the design of this building is also very interesting.

Previously, before becoming the office of the governor of West Java, this building was built by the Dutch East Indies government as a building called the Department van Gouvernementsbedrijven. Then, after Indonesia became independent and regained its rights, this building was converted into the office of the governor of West Java.

Actually, there are many interesting stories in this sate building. For example, when this building was owned by the Dutch East Indies government, this building became the central center of West Java at that time. There is a post office, telegram and telephone. And there is a library consisting of many books, which is said to have 250,000 collections. Isn't it amazing?

However, because this building was converted by the Indonesian government, it is now a government office. All the book collections are gone, actually I don't know what happened to the library, maybe it was brought back? I don't know for sure.

This building has an architectural style that is very attached to the Indo-European style, it was once the most beautiful building in its time. Indeed, there is a different vibe when you are in the sate building, anyone will feel the same thing. For that, this building is really special. The yard of the building is wide enough to play ball, even the parking lot is no less interesting. There are also many other buildings in the area inside this building, all buildings have their own functions.

The area of the land is shady and still filled with trees, not many people enter without an entrance fee to relax in the afternoon. The weather in Bandung is also cool in the morning and evening, relaxing is a must.

See you the next time hive friends!
