There is a grand temple of Maa Nanda on the Dandadhaar of Himnagari Munsiyari at an altitude of 2250 meters above sea level in the frontier district Pithoragarh. Located at a very picturesque place, the five peaks of Panchachuli are closest to this temple.
Munsiyari i.e. Johar area is the area of Nanda Devi. The history of Nanda Devi temple situated in Dandadhar, three km away from Munsiyari, is quite old. It is said that earlier the villagers of Papdi, Pyankuti, Varniagaon used to worship Nanda Devi here. There is immense faith in Mother Nanda Devi here.

There were big rocks near the present temple and the temple was built with the stones of those rocks. The present temple is modern and was built by expanding the old temple. According to local belief, when Mother Nanda came here from Nanda Devi Therefore, she found this place most captivating and settled here. Since then people have been worshiping him.
The present temple is very modern. The complex of Nanda Devi temple is very huge. This temple situated on the top of the hill is very attractive. People come here to enjoy the peace and spirituality as well as the scenery. There is arrangement for people to sit and roam in the temple premises. The temple is regularly maintained.
Nanda Devi Temple situated in Dadadhar of Munsiyari is a center of deep reverence. A huge fair is organized here on the occasion of Nandashtami. Mother Nanda is considered the goddess who fulfills wishes. After reaching here we see the Panchachuli mountain range.
Every tourist coming to Munsiyari reaches here and enjoys the picturesque view of Maa Nanda. Every day a large number of people come to see Nanda.
