Nestled on a the edge of the Columbian River Valley deep in the British Columbian interior lies Eagle Ranch. It is a golf course and resort overlooking the mountain town of Invermere. We are near Radium, on the west side of the National Parks in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
The nature in the surrounding mountains is second to none but the valley is quite developed. There are incredible mountain view golf courses and a couple of world class ski resorts in the area. People flock here for outdoor activities and to escape the crowds found closer to Vancouver, Calgary or Kalispell Montana.
Many people have cottages on Windermere lake, it is about a three hour drive from Calgary through Banff and Kootenay National Parks. Panorama Ski Hill is also nearby providing year round activities.
The weather is relatively good in the valleys of British Columbia, the fishing is great and the water is warm enough for activities like water skiing and tubing. It is much greener here than in Alberta and the lake is just 800 meters above sea level meaning it is more temperate than the surrounding mountains.
People stay here for weddings and tourism. Eagle Ranch is one of the better places to stay in the Columbian Valley. There aren't many rooms and there are limited services but they are very nice and the property is fantastic.
The golf course is well kept and looks relatively challenging. We did not come here for golfing but I won't rule that out in the future. Golfing is a big reason why people flock here in the Summer, that and to visit local hot springs.
Sitting by the fire is a perfect way to enjoy an evening. These photos were taken around 8pm at the the of June so it would be a couple more hours for the sky to get dark. The Kootenay Rocky Mountains off in the distance are where one finds Panorama Alpine Resort.
We came here just to enjoy a quick weekend getaway and to walk around. The well kept paths along the golf courses provided grounds for a perfect late afternoon stroll. We waited until everyone had finished golfing because it is incredibly rude to walk around the course while people are spending hundreds of dollars enjoying a round of golf (It is probably forbidden too).
Ducks, deer and birds take over the course once the golfers leave the greens. Mountains surround this course and there are unbelievable views of the river valley below. It really is a dream to golf in a place like this.
The town of Invermere has that cottage town atmosphere. There are fancy shops and little festivals to enjoy throughout the year. Finding decent dining options is not a challenge in the Valley and there is always something to do.
A Canadian Pacific coal train passes through the valley. Mining and forestry are the biggest industries asides from tourism and related services. There are logging and mining roads spreading throughout the interior but they do try and preserve the view from the valley roads.
Thank you for reading and hope you are having a nice week.

A truly beautiful place. Perfect for a weekend plan, close to nature and away from the big resorts. Thanks for sharing
