Yesterday, I was fortunate enough that the weather cleared in the final hours of the day. It had been raining all afternoon, leaving me with no choice but to stay indoors. I thought my plan to visit the Japanese Garden would be jeopardized again, but then the rain stopped, gifting us one of the most stunning skies for late afternoon photography. The subtle light filtering through the clouds added a dramatic touch to the photos I captured during my walk.
I arrived at Jurong Lake around 6:45 PM, which was quite late considering I still had to walk for a few minutes to reach the Japanese Garden. At this point, I had less than an hour to plan my walk around the area. I was trying to catch the blue hour, so if I were too late, I’d be left with a dark sky and a poorly lit environment. Since I wasn’t familiar with this section of Jurong Lake, I knew it would be extra challenging to find good spots and take more photos.
The tall pagoda you see in the first photo is the Cloud Pagoda, located in the Chinese Garden, one of the gardens within the Jurong Lake complex. It’s impressive how they’ve designed a variety of gardens in the complex, making each one unique.
After admiring the pagoda at the Chinese Garden, I continued my walk until I reached the Double Beauty Bridge, which connects the Chinese Garden to the Japanese Garden.
As I stepped onto the bridge, I felt the environment shift from the distinct charm of a traditional Chinese landscape to the serene vibe of a modern Japanese garden.
If I were to compare the Japanese-style garden to the Chinese side, I would say the Japanese garden exudes subtlety, cleanliness, and a refined atmosphere.
Since I didn’t have enough time to explore the entire area, I decided to visit just two attractions: the Water Lily Pond and the Breathing Gallery. After a few minutes of walking, I arrived at the Water Lily Pond right as the blue hour was at its most beautiful.
I was amazed by the size of the Water Lily Pond and how the clusters of lilies were arranged to be beautifully highlighted by the surrounding spotlights.
After taking plenty of photos of the Water Lily Pond to my satisfaction, I decided to visit the Breathing Gallery, which was just a few minutes away.
The Breathing Gallery features a collection of terrariums that beautifully showcase the essence of the forest.
Visiting the Japanese Garden at Jurong Lake was a serene and inspiring experience, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and thoughtful design. Although my time there was brief, I cherished the opportunity to explore its unique attractions and capture its charm through my lens. I look forward to returning soon, with more time to uncover its hidden gems and fully immerse myself in its tranquil atmosphere.
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🤩
You're absolutely right about Asian culture being beautiful. I'm glad you enjoyed the photos, and I'm especially happy that you loved the mini terrariums! Yes, they do require careful organization and years of dedication (based on the explanation that I saw in the video).
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and appreciation of the photos 😊
Si todo muy lindo, espero la verdad algún día visitar tu país, y cultura, todo es bien bonito…El arte es fantástico en creatividad @curamax 😊👏🤩

Hey @curamax you are welcome.
Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘
Wonderful photos 😍 The garden really is heaven on earth! It really deserves to be in the Top 3 of the day ! Bonne continuation !
Thanks for the nice feedback and I’m glad you like the photos 👍
A beautiful place and photos. Do those terrariums have insects? I almost made one for ants during the pandemic out of boredom 😅
I think I saw some tiny snails and small fishes also 😅. The room is sealed from outdoor it's less likely to have insects.
I think terrarium is a nice activity to do if you like nature and botany.
The Pagoda with lighting is always attractive due to its excellent structures. The Japanese garden is also very beautiful, I hope you spent a great time there. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for dropping by. Indeed the pagoda looks impressive as it's so tall. And the lighting adds good accent to thr design too.
That looks so peaceful and beautiful! We have a "Japanese Garden" in my country too but it's mostly populated with specific trees that create magic somewhere in February when the whole nature becomes pink there! Can't wait for that time of the year again!
Oh sounds nice. You have like the Sakura vibe is it?
Exactly!!
Nice shots, I think can darker slightly to make the sky more dramatic.
Thanks for the feedback. I think I can add more contrast on my editing too.
The Japanese garden looks such a peaceful place I love the temple but also the wooden structure and the lake everything remind to me of some Shogun scenes.
Hey @noemilunastorta thanks for dropping by. I agree, there are some views in this area that feels like I’m transported to a place in Japan. It was an amazing experience 👍
This is so beautiful. Especially those evening shots I don't know how this place would look in day light but with those evening lights the place looks BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks for dropping by. I feel the same; dusk gives a place a new level of beauty because of the interesting hue of the sky in contrast with the warm lights of the surroundings. I think it's beautiful too 👍
I couldn't take my eyes off any of these photos. Blue is my favorite color and seeing you capture every scene with the subtle blue color of the sky complimenting it gave the photos some calming and amazing look.
I agree. Blue has that calming effect and that's probably the reason I did enjoy this walk. It's not very warm and then the blue hue from the sky also made the photos more interesting.
