Very good day to the whole community, from Buenos Aires and just arrived from my vacation in Chubut, I tell you about one of the beautiful places I knew, the Dique Florentino Ameghino, a garden in the middle of the Chubutense plateau.

We went from Puerto Madryn, where we were staying, traveling route 3 to the south and passing through the city of Trelew and Gaiman, it is 187 km from Puerto Madryn, approximately.

The journey along the route shows an arid steppe, where the landscape is always similar, with shrubs and thorns, flat; that is why it is surprising when one arrives at the dam since the landscape is transformed into an orchard with ravines, red sealing rocks, a turquoise reservoir and a villa with trees and enough vegetation that transforms the place into an oasis.

It was inaugurated in 1963 to control the waters of the Chubut River, for irrigation and to obtain electricity. It is an imposing work in the middle of nowhere. The dam is 225 meters long.

In the villa there are lodgings, hotel, camping, bars and restaurants. In the dam you can practice sport fishing where what abounds most are trout, perch and silverside. You can also go hillside trekking, rafting and abseiling.

If you travel to Chubut, in addition to knowing the loberías and penguins, do not forget to visit the dam, it is really a very quiet place, protected from the winds of Patagonia, a true oasis.
