Today I am going to show you the beautiful city of Guantanamo.
I was invited with my husband to the event La Isla en Peso for the first time.
Guantánamo has always been referred to as the most backward province in the country, and it is not. It is not at all.
Although I had already been there a couple of times for work, I never had the opportunity to walk around the center of the main city and this is the one I want to show you. At least, what I liked most of what I could see.
Let's start with the house of the Trova.

For a musician it is a must stop. The place is nice, the music is very good, but it is right on the side of the street and the traffic sometimes makes it difficult to hear well. Nevertheless, it was an excellent night.
The next day we went out for a walk. Of course, we couldn't miss going for coffee, and for that we were taken to Café Bohemio.
Look at what a beautiful place. I even got excited about playing the guitar.
Walking through the city I found clean, wide streets with modern architecture mixed with those of Early 20th century. Large, spacious houses. Wealthy people undoubtedly lived here.
Look at this building, for example. It's majestic.
Look at this boulevard. It's beautiful. I was really struck by this sign at the entrance.
(For those who didn't understand, it means that the bicycle or motorcycle not even hand in hand on the boulevard)

Look at the beautiful walls and windows of this AHS headquarters in Guantánamo.
And, to top it all off, in front of the Teatro América.
Another thing I loved about this city was the floors. Many sidewalks and floors on the boulevard are made of granite and have signs with Martian messages, like these.
They don't do work like this anymore.
Without a doubt, Guantanamo without chocolate is not Guantanamo. So we went out to look for the "Chocolate House", however, before finding it, very close to it, in fact, we found a cafe where they sold these chocolate-filled buns, which @abelarte loved.
He even bought enough to bring home.
We finally arrived at La Casa del Chocolate.
The offers are cheap, as you can see.
Just outside the premises is this beautiful fountain. It was undoubtedly made by someone with very good taste.
It reminds one of the works of the Renaissance.
The “Chocolate House…” what can I say? It’s chocolate. Everything is exquisite. Especially the fillings.
Since we were here, we walked through Martí Park. At the end, the boulevard, the chocolate house and the Martí hotel are around the park.
Martí Park is one of the prettiest, cleanest and well-kept parks I have seen in Cuba. See why I tell you this.
We were also surprised to see how book presentations were taking place in the streets outside the libraries.

At night we went dancing. First we went to the Artex House, where we met a group from Changüi that we loved.
And, as is the traditional dance of this region, when we later arrived at the UNEAC headquarters In Guantánamo, we met another changüí group.
This time, Abel was not spared and danced changüí for the first time in his life.
The next day I went to the art school in Guantanamo, where I gave a lesson to the guitar students. I can't disassociate myself from this vocation.
Wherever I am, I am a teacher.
The food in Guantanamo is delicious. As is the drink.
Among the places that caught my attention the most is the bar on the terrace of the Hotel Martí. And, to close the night, the main course and one of the reasons why I came to Guantanamo: conducting the Guantanamo guitar orchestra.
Without a doubt, it was a great honor to stage my works and conduct the orchestra.

Hoy les voy a mostrar la hermosa ciudad de Guantánamo.
Fui invitada junto a mi esposo al evento La Isla en Peso por primera vez.
Siempre se ha escuchado mencionar a Guantánamo como la provincia más atrasada del país y no es así. No lo está en absoluto.
Aunque ya había estado un par de veces por trabajo, nunca tuve la oportunidad de caminar el centro de la ciudad cabecera y esta es la que deseo mostrarles. Al menos, lo que más me gustó de lo que pude ver.
Comencemos por la casa de la Trova.
Para un músico es parada obligatoria. El lugar es agradable, la música muy buena, pero está justo en al costado de la calle y el tránsito a veces no deja escuchar bien. No obstante, fue una noche excelente.
Al día siguiente salimos a caminar. Por supuesto que no podía faltar ir a tomar café y para eso nos llevaron al Café Bohemio.
Miren qué lugar más bonito. Hasta me embullé a tocar la guitarra.
Caminando por la ciudad me encontré con unas calles limpias, amplias, de arquitectura moderna mezclada con las de principio de siglo 20. Casas grandes y espaciosas. Sin duda aquí vivían personas adineradas.
Miren este edificio, por ejemplo. Es majestuoso.
Miren este boulevard. Es hermoso. Me llamó mucho la atención este cartel a la entrada.
(Para el que no lo entendió, significa que la bicicleta o la moto ni de la mano por el boulevard)
Muy cerca del Hotel Martí, se encuentra la Asociación Hermanos Saíz, quienes nos invitaron.

Miren qué hermosura de paredes y ventanas tiene esta sede de la AHS en Guantánamo.
Y, para colmo, al frente del teatro América.
Otra cosa que me encantó de esta ciudad fueron los suelos. Muchas aceras y pisos del boulevard están hechos con granito y tienen carteles con mensajes Martianos, como estos.
Ya no se hacen trabajos como estos.
Sin duda Guantánamo sin chocolate no es Guantánamo. Así que salimos a buscar la “Casa del chocolate”, sin embargo, antes de encontrarla, muy cerca de ella, de hecho, nos encontramos con una cafetería donde vendían estos panecillos rellenos de chocolate, que a @abelarte le fascinó.
Compró hasta para traer a la casa.
Finalmente llegamos a La Casa del Chocolate.
Las ofertas son económicas, como bien pueden observar.
Justo a las afueras del local se encuentra esta bella fuente. Sin duda alguna, fue hecha por alguien con muy buen gusto.
Recuerda a los trabajos del renacimiento.
La “Casa del chocolate…” ¿qué lees puedo decir? Es chocolate. Todo exquisito. Sobre todo los rellenos.
Ya que estábamos aquí, pues caminamos por el parque Martí. Al final, el boulevard, la casa del chocolate y el hotel Martí quedan alrededor del parque.
El parque Martí es uno de los parques más lindos, limpios y bien cuidados que he visto en Cuba. Miren el por qué se los digo.
También nos sorprendió ver cómo en las calles, a las afueras de las bibliotecas se realizaban presentaciones de libros.
Así que nos sentamos a ver. (aquí @gaviotawriter se nos unió)
Por la noche nos fuimos a bailar. Primero fue a la Casa de Artex, donde nos encontramos a un grupo de Changüi que nos encantó.
Y, como es el baile tradicional de esta región, cuando llegamos luego a la sede de la UNEAC en Guantánamo, pues nos encontramos con otra agrupación changüicera.
En esta ocasión Abel no se salvó y bailó changüí por primera vez en su vida.
Al día siguiente fui a la escuela de arte de Guantánamo, donde di una clase a los alumnos de guitarra. No puedo desvincularme de esta vocación.
Donde sea que esté, soy maestra.
La comida en Guantánamo es deliciosa. Igual que la bebida.
Entre los lugares que más me llamaron la atención está el bar en la terraza del Hotel Martí.
Y, para cerrar la noche, el plato fuerte y una de las razones por la que vine a Guantánamo: dirigir la orquesta de guitarras de Guantánamo.
Sin duda alguna, fue un gran honor montar obras mías y dirigir la orquesta.
