In this post, I'd like to tell you about my visit to Art Sirri's house in Solo. Art Sirri is the first perfume distillery in Indonesia. When I went there with a friend and a supervisor during my education in Central Java. At that time the weather was a bit cloudy, after returning from the peak we stopped by Atsirri. On holidays, many visitors come to fill their vacations while knowing the origin and history of perfume making in Indonesia.
Atsiri is an educational tour about the education of making essential oils from essential plants, which is located on Jl. Watusambang, Plumbon, Tawangmangu District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java. Rumah Atsirri is open from 10:00-17:00 WIB every day including national holidays. The entrance ticket price for local and foreign tourists is around IDR 50,000 per person. Rumah Atsirri has a collection of fragrant oils and how fragrant oils were first produced in Indonesia.
Atsiri Indonesia is the result of the revitalization of the Citronella Factory which was established in 1963. The Citronella Factory was built with the cooperation of the Indonesian and Bulgarian governments to process essential oils with citronella as the basic ingredient. In 1986, the Citronella Factory changed hands from the government to the private sector.
In 2015, the plant stopped operating due to problems with the availability of raw materials and the economy. Then, PT Rumah Atsiri Indonesia took over and revitalized the factory building into Rumah Atsiri recreation area. Rumah Atsiri Indonesia began operating and opened to the public as an aromatic wellness tourist destination in May 2018.
Inside the building, there are also some photos and floor plans of the most supplies for making fragrant oils from all over Indonesia. The spices are bought at a fairly high price, because they are already difficult to find. Lampung is one of the areas supplying spices to make fragrant oil. Because Lampung is one of the spice-producing areas in Indonesia.
After touring the perfume house, my group and I went downstairs to buy souvenirs to take home. Unfortunately, we didn't buy any souvenirs. We prefer to look at plants and types of trinkets as ingredients that can be mixed in perfume.
Visiting Artsirri taught me more about the process of making perfumes that we often use as fragrances in our daily appearance. I also learned what kind of perfume and scent I should choose according to my character.
