Tomamos el vehículo y manejamos hacia el sur a una poblado pequeño llamado Puerto Wanda. Para colocar en contexto a nuestro lector, hemos de aclarar que las Cataratas del Iguazú, Puerto Iguazú, Ciudad del Este (Paraguay), Foz Do Iguazú (Brasil) y muchas poblaciones aledañas, fueron fundadas dentro de la inmensa cuenca del Río Paraná.
Brasil y Paraguay comparten fronteras sobre el río mencionado y cuando la corriente cruza el punto de las tres fronteras, Brasil sale de la ecuación y Argentina le sustituye compartiendo frontera con Paraguay, hasta la altura donde solo discurre en territorio Argentino. Dicho esto, Puerto Wanda es uno de esos pueblos fundados río abajo y bendecido por la naturaleza, al descubrirse dentro de sus predios vetas de piedras semipreciosas (principalmente amatistas).

We took the vehicle and drove south to a small town called Puerto Wanda. To put our reader in context, we have to clarify that Iguazu Falls, Puerto Iguazu, Ciudad del Este (Paraguay), Foz Do Iguazu (Brazil) and many surrounding towns, were founded within the immense basin of the Parana River.
Brazil and Paraguay share borders on the mentioned river and when the current crosses the point of the three borders, Brazil leaves the equation and Argentina replaces it sharing border with Paraguay, until the height where it only runs in Argentine territory. Having said that, Puerto Wanda is one of those towns founded downstream and blessed by nature, as veins of semiprecious stones were discovered within its lands (mainly amethysts).

Los dueños del lugar se dieron cuenta que para sobrevivir al aumento de los costos inflacionarios en la Argentina, tenían que hacer algo y decidieron apostar por el turismo hace tiempo. Con tan buenos resultados que la proporción de ingresos por ésta última actividad, les resulta más productiva que vender las bellezas expuestas en la enorme tienda al final del recorrido.

Cuando cualquier emprendedor tiene una visión, simplemente se concentra en una meta. Y estos tipos lo hicieron bien, se nota la entrega de sus guías en hacer del recorrido algo muy educativo (no tiene que ser usted geólogo o amante de las piedras para disfrutar, se lo aseguro) y la conciencia sobre lo lejos del emplazamiento de otros lugares que bien podrían valer la pena visitar preferentemente. Por lo que el boca a boca, imagino que les ha servido y de allí los resultados.
No importa si usted sufre de claustrofobia. Éste sistema de cuevas es tan amplio que, con nuestra altura física, jamás tuve que bajar la cabeza para evitar golpearla con las paredes. Así las cosas, no se siente en ningún momento el encierro. Y quienes han ido a cuevas antes, saben como se siente estar bajo tierra. Dicho esto, nunca sentirán el calor de lugares similares aquí, porque fue un recorrido diseñado para la circulación del aire. No hay sofocación acá (se siente más afuera, que es donde la humedad de la selva pega). En fin, un paseo recomendado al 100%, si usted anda por el norte de la provincia de Misiones.

When any entrepreneur has a vision, they simply focus on a goal. And these guys did it right, you can see the dedication of their guides in making the tour very educational (you don't have to be a geologist or rock lover to enjoy it, I assure you) and the awareness of how far the site is from other places that might well be worth visiting preferably. So word of mouth, I imagine, has served them well and hence the results.
It doesn't matter if you suffer from claustrophobia. This cave system is so wide that, with our physical height, I never had to lower my head to avoid hitting the walls. As it is, there is no sense of confinement at any time. And those who have been to caves before know what it feels like to be underground. That said, you will never feel the heat of similar places here, because it was a tour designed for air circulation. There is no sweltering here (you feel it more outside, which is where the humidity of the jungle hits). All in all, a 100% recommended ride if you are in the north of Misiones province.

Such a travel experience is a great thing. Although I have never been to a mountain cave. But I am very interested in it and I like it a lot. It’s great that places like this aren’t demolished but turned into tourist attractions instead. The economy from gemstone sales and mining might have declined, but many people would still want to visit. I hope they come to learn rather than just to post a story or a picture with #GemHunting, #MineCrafting. Absolutely stunning... especially the violet hues combined with white and black. Seeing the stones after processing, when they shine, is one thing, but witnessing them in their raw form, untouched by human hands, is something else entirely.
