I was waiting for the snow to fall in Montreal so I could take part in the #WinterChallenge hosted by @worldmapping. Last week, around ten centimeters (4 inches) of snow covered the streets overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. Everything looks better covered in a white blanket. Although in the city with cars and pollution, it quickly turns grey, so might as well make the most of it while the snow is white 😀.
We're in Montreal on rue Saint-Hubert and its adjacent streets for this short walk.

In this alleyway running parallel to rue Saint-Hubert, several garage doors are painted, including that of Omen. In winter, the colours stand out even more against this white background. When you cross the street, we're in a green alley...

Going up the lane, there's this Herezy lettering that's been there for many years. On Google Map, in 2012 the letters were already there. They're pretty resilient, no tags, just the peeling wall.
On Saint Hubert street, you'll find some lovely houses with balconies and outside staircases that are typical of Montreal architecture. In winter, they need to be cleared of snow and prevented from freezing, otherwise the postman won't deliver the mail (less of a problem in the last few days as Canada Post is on strike).
And we end this first stroll under the snow at the corner of Saint Hubert street and Duluth avenue with the shop Les Chocolats de Chloé. In summer, the ice creams are really good. And in winter, they serve excellent hot chocolates, perfect after a walk in nearby Parc Lafontaine.
Great day to you all and enjoy the winter if you're in the northern hemisphere.

And I am very interested in seeing snow, because in my area there is no snow, so hopefully one day I can visit a place that has snow.
I'm glad to see the first snow but I'm not sure that in April I'll be as happy 😅
Have a wonderful day
Hehe, and may you always be happy
I hate snow in cities, it always turns into that brownish mush. Snow in the mountains is a completely different story, though!
It's true that it's only beautiful early in the morning when it's still white... after that it quickly becomes “sloche” as we say in Quebec. Not my favorite thing for sure.
Enjoy your day

Fresh snow is always lovely 🙂 I like the yellow store front at the chocolate store. It (and of course all the street art) really benefits from the white background. I like the green alley and summer time rental hotel for pollinators haha they are at their condo in Miami now for the winter
Ah I wondered how insects survived the winter, Miami makes sense 😀
