Hello to all my friends in the Hive community,
Yesterday I spent some time exploring several interesting corners of Marrakech, letting my footsteps guide me through contemporary paths, beautiful gardens and historic places. This city never gets old with its own fusion of modernism and heritage. Join me for this long walk, which starts at midday and ends elegantly with a breathtaking panoramic view.
I begin my walk along one of Marrakech's most beautiful boulevards, Boulevard Mohamed 6. The middle of this wide street is a verdant garden that contrasts with large, sophisticated fountains that bring a little freshness to the city's surroundings. With palm trees lining the road and the faint scent of plants growing in meticulously tended flowerbeds, a stroll here is a delight.
A little further on, I arrive at the site of international events: The congress centre.
Shortly afterwards, I turned right to find myself in a slightly different place: The M-Avenue. Modern and sophisticated, the M-Avenue contrasts with the conventional image of Marrakech. Here, everything is polished and designed. The pedestrian zones, international brand shops, modern cafés, upmarket restaurants and hotels are all adorned with ornamental plants. Although the predominant architecture and warm colours gently incorporate a Moroccan touch, the site radiates modernism. A stroll through this district is a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the development of Marrakech, which knows how to blend luxury and elegance with its traditional character.
After this interlude of modernity, I want to rediscover a bit of history and landscape.
So I headed for the Menara gardens, a site that is both natural and ancient. Rich in history, this green space offers a peaceful setting. As soon as I arrived, I was struck by the large avenue of olive trees surrounding the famous central pool. Thanks to a clever hydraulic system, this vast reservoir created under the Almohad dynasty several centuries ago was once used to irrigate the surrounding farms. Particularly when snow covers its peaks, the Atlas Mountains can often be glimpsed in the background, rising magnificently to offer stunning views.
Walking gently around the pond, I took the opportunity to enjoy the peace of the place, seeing the reflections of the pavilion on the water and listening to the rustle of the breeze on the olive trees. Walking through this garden gives you the impression of stepping back in time, there is a spirit, a past.
After leaving the Ménara, I continued my walk in the Moulay Hassan Park, another charming place where nature takes pride of place. But it was here that the breathtaking view of the Grand Atlas caught my eye. It's always amazing to see Marrakech's sunny weather against the snow in the distance. It's a reminder of just how varied Morocco is, where it only takes a few hours to travel from desert to snow-capped mountains.
To round off a day full of discoveries, I stopped off at the Menara Mall, a contemporary shopping centre offering a wide range of shops and events. However, I really liked the elevated terrace. From here, the Menara gardens and the Atlas Mountains are breathtakingly visible. The contrast between the perfect white of the snow and the rich green of the olive trees is simply stunning. I stopped to appreciate this extraordinary scene.
Moving from a modern boulevard to a chic district, then plunging into the Menara gardens, to finish on a panoramic note at the Menara Mall, it really is a harmony between modernism and heritage that allowed me to spend a lovely day before getting tired and heading home around 4pm.
