Morocco #30 - A pleasant visit to Rabat !

in Worldmappin26 days ago

Hello to all my friends, I hope you're all well!

Yesterday I travelled to Rabat, the capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. I woke up early in the morning and went to the station. I waited for the train from Fes to Rabat. The train journey from Meknes to Rabat took about an hour and a half.

I arrived in Rabat at around 9 a.m. and found it much changed, as it had been a long time since I'd been there. The city has become more beautiful and many things have been added. This is of course due to the major works that have been carried out in several Moroccan cities in recent years, in preparation for hosting the 2030 Football World Cup, in partnership with Spain and Portugal!

In this article, I'll briefly show you the places I visited, and in the coming days, I'll talk about each place in detail...

When I arrived in Rabat, I got off at Rabat Ville station, which is right in the heart of the city. My first destination was the majestic Tour Hassan, a historic monument that is one of Rabat's best-known symbols.

Not far from the tower is the mausoleum of King Mohammed V, a magnificent place where King Hassan II and his brother, Prince Moulay Abdallah, are also laid to rest.

These two places, so close together, were a great way to start my visit to this fascinating city.

I then continued along the coastal road that leads to the famous Loudayas castle and the ancient medina of Rabat. This route, which runs alongside the Atlantic Ocean, offers a magnificent view.

The castle of Loudayas is a must-see for anyone visiting Rabat. As soon as you approach, you are struck by its imposing walls and monumental gateway, a true masterpiece of Almohad architecture.

After exploring the castle, I headed for Rabat's old medina, with its beautiful white alleyways!

The next stop was an absolutely fascinating museum, a real hidden treasure. This museum, which surprised me with its diversity, exhibits an impressive collection of dolls from all over the world.

When I left the doll museum, it was about three o'clock in the afternoon. It was the perfect time to take a break, so I decided to contact a friend who lives in Rabat. He got back to me quickly and we agreed to meet for lunch. We chose a quiet spot in a beautiful district called Agdal and we chose an oriental restaurant to eat chawarma.

After lunch, we headed for one of Rabat's historical wonders: the Chellah archaeological site. Surrounded by greenery and a peaceful atmosphere. Chellah is an ancient Roman city and a medieval site that combines the remains of several eras.

These were the places I visited in Rabat yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to discover the other places I had in mind. The visit to Chellah marked the end of my day, and I then headed to the station to catch my train back to Meknes.

However, I don't see this as a final farewell to Rabat. I'm determined to return in the future and take the time to discover even more of its wonders, and I'm already looking forward to coming back and continuing my exploration.

I hope you enjoyed this article! Take care, have a great day and see you soon!
