Why Turtle Island?
Approaching this Island we saw the reason why they call this Turtle Island. In the distance, you will see an Island shaped like a Giant turtle sleeping at the top of the water. We were thrilled when we saw this and excited to see more and discover what is on the island. So let's go, join me in discovering this place.
Last April 2024, we conducted our company summer outing on this known tourist destination in the Philippines called " Hundred's Island of Pangasinan ". This travel destination is written all over our History Book and is one of the travel spots every Filipino loves to explore.
When the team announced that this would be our place for our summer outing, I was silently excited at the corner. This spot is one of my childhood dream destinations to explore. As I said it is written all over in our History Book and I know my inner child is happy and excited to explore it.
" Marcos Island "
This is Marcos Island one of the famous among the Hundred Island Natural Park. It is one of our itineraries in our Island hopping. It is known for its unique features, natural beauty, and adventure to offer to all travelers. The island is just a medium-sized island compared to the other. So you can explore the whole Island for 30 minutes or less.
A short fact: This island is named after a well-known former president of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos. It is due to its influential family that time in the country.
The Island is estimated 1.5 Kilometers away from the coast of Alaminos Pangasinan. You can reach this place by boat from Lucap Wharf. It will take you 20 to 40 minutes to ride, depending on weather conditions.
Surprising Feature
This Island gives you an unexpected adventure. From its enticing turtle shape, white sand and crystal clear water around the Island will welcome you and make you amaze. Surely, you will love to dive in and explore the marine life beneath this island. You can also jump and dive on the rocky cliff around. You can also sunbathe, sit down on the sand, and relax.
There is a Cave?
Yes, you read it right, on this small island, there is a surprising cave that you can visit and explore. I never expected this cave, this is called Imelda Cave and this is the highlight of the Island. on the cave you will jump above into the cave's water, the water is connected to the ocean. It is thrilling to jump here and you will have fun as well.
This is just a small cave, on the ceiling of it, you will find small bats that are inhabitants of this cave. You will also find some stalactites and stalagmites on the cave surface.
If you want to stay longer on the island, there are cottages available for tourists, a comfort room, and some lifeguards that can assist you. There are a lot of mini stores also on the Island if you want to buy some snacks and water. They also sell some foods for lunch such us fresh fish and other seafoods. The price of the food is affordable, you don't need to worry about the cost.
A lot of tourists were on the island when we docked on the beach. It was a little bit crowded but the beauty of the beach and island enticed us to continue exploring it. We jump into the cave, of course, this is the highlight of this place and we need to try it. We also dive into its crystal-clear water and do some quick snorkeling.
We loved diving in this place, the water is cold and clear, and we find a lot of colorful fish and corals as well. Some of our colleagues just stay on the beach and feel the fine white sand on their skin and have some sunbathe.
We stayed here for an hour only, we enjoyed all the activities and this Island gave us more than what we expected.
If you want to experience this Island in Hundred Island Natural Park, be sure to suggest it in your itineraries to inform the tour coordinator and notify the boat operator. The place is worth it to visit and be part of your next bucket list of your travel destination.
To look up a tour, you can browse the Facebook page offering the Travel Destination Tour, A lot of groups will help you find one and give you a tour of this place that you deserve.
A little reminder:
- Be a responsible traveler
- Don't leave a footprint of your trash in the area
- Follow the rules and safety guidelines
- Respect the place and the people of the Island

So many boats, so many tourists. And yet there are empty beaches and reefs mostly in the neighborhood, where you are alone with clown fish, stingrays, parrot fish, octopuses, sharks and turtles.
You will love this place once you visit @aliens.insight the Philippines
