A Journey to the Countryside
For those of us who were born, grew up and live in a city like Caracas, going on a trip to the countryside is a totally transcendental experience, since in these regions we can find everything we have always seen through books, films or the internet. Fortunately my country has all types of climates and landscapes that can exist, which is why we can reach really interesting places just 5 hours away by bus. It had been a long time since I travelled to the east, to tell the truth this is one of the areas I know the most and at the same time I enjoy the most, since its coasts are extraordinary and its cities are very friendly, but this time the sea would not be my destination, since I would head my route towards the plains, in order to enjoy those natural and sunny landscapes where the roads become eternal and the trees are indispensable.

Un Viaje al Campo
Para los que nacimos, crecimos y vivimos en una ciudad como Caracas ir de viaje al campo es una experiencia totalmente trascendental, ya que en estas regiones podemos encontrar todo aquello que siempre hemos visto a través de libros, películas o el internet, afortunadamente mi país cuenta con todos los tipos de climas y paisajes que puedan existir, es por ello que a tan solo unas 5 horas en bus podremos llegar a lugares realmente interesantes. Ya tenía bastante tiempo que no viajaba hacia el oriente, a decir verdad esta es una de las zonas que más conozco y al mismo tiempo que más disfruto, ya que sus costas son extraordinarias y sus ciudades muy amigables, pero en esta ocasión el mar no sería mi destino, puesto que enfilaría mi ruta con dirección a los llanos, para de esta manera poder disfrutar de esos paisajes naturales y soleados en donde los caminos se vuelven eternos y los árboles indispensables.
The Venezuelan east is a geographically very interesting region, since to the north it has the best beaches in the country, but a few kilometres to the south we are already facing endless plains, areas that are characterised by being ideal for cattle production, where we will find many dirt roads, immense trees and pastures that cover dozens of hectares, it is an area where nature continues to be the main protagonist, giving us amazing landscapes, where the colours are brighter, the air is purer and silence is the constant.
El oriente venezolano es una región geográficamente muy interesante, ya que al norte cuenta con las mejores playas del país, pero poquísimos kilómetros al sur ya nos enfrentamos a llanuras interminables, áreas que se caracterizan por ser ideales para la producción ganadera, en donde encontraremos muchas carreteras de tierra, inmensos árboles y potreros que abarcan decenas de hectáreas, es una área en donde la naturaleza sigue siendo la principal protagonista, regalándonos paisajes alucinantes, en donde los colores son más brillantes, el aire es más puro y el silencio es la constante.
In the midst of this relative tranquillity is a small town called Clarines, a place where my aunt has a small house and, therefore, for years it has become my starting point for the various tours I have made in this area of the country, but it is interesting to mention that despite having spent the night here on many occasions I had never decided to go out and explore the grandeur of this territory, That is why on this day, taking advantage of a sunny morning and at the same time quite fresh, I decided to go out and walk towards the unknown, the goal was simple, just to move without stopping to take pictures, connect with nature and at the same time discover the beauty of the eastern plains.
En medio de esta relativa tranquilidad se encuentra una pequeña ciudad llamada Clarines, un lugar en donde mi tía cuenta con una pequeña casa y, por lo tanto, desde hace años se ha convertido en mi punto de partida para los diversos recorridos que he realizado en esta zona del país, pero es interesante mencionar que a pesar de haber pernoctado acá en muchísimas ocasiones nunca me había decidido a salir a explorar las grandezas de este territorio, es por ello que en este día aprovechando una mañana soleada y al mismo tiempo bastante fresca, me dispuse a salir y caminar con dirección hacia lo desconocido, la meta era sencilla, solamente desplazarme sin parar para tomar fotografías, conectarme con la naturaleza y al mismo tiempo descubrir las bellezas los llanos orientales.
So I set out to walk along a wide dirt road which apparently has no name and the only really sure thing is that it goes south, but it is a 100% panoramic route, in which we can discover beautiful landscapes, we can see various species of birds and at the same time if we are lucky we can observe large herds of cattle grazing in the tranquility of their paddocks. This is a route that we must take into account the high incidence of sunlight, which is why the use of sunscreen, hats and cool clothing is essential.
De esta manera me dispuse a caminar por una carretera ancha de tierra la cual al parecer no tiene nombre y lo único realmente seguro es que marcha con dirección al sur, pero se trata de una ruta 100% panorámica, en la cual podemos descubrir hermosos paisajes, podemos avistar diversas especies de aves y al mismo tiempo si tenemos suerte podremos observar a grandes rebaños ganaderos pastando en la tranquilidad de sus potreros. Este es un recorrido que debemos realizar teniendo en cuenta la gran incidencia solar, es por ello que el uso de bloqueadores, gorras y ropa fresca es fundamental.
There is no doubt that this route is not at all touristy, since it does not appear on any map of this type, it does not have visitor services nor is it known by the general population, but I really believe that this is a road with a great potential for success, I did a good part of the route on foot, but I think that with the use of some kind of tourist bus you can generate a tremendously productive activity here, because as you may have noticed there are miles and miles where we can discover beautiful landscapes, observe many animals and breathe 100% pure air.
No cabe la menor duda de que esta ruta no es para nada turística, puesto que no aparece en ningún mapa de este tipo, no cuenta con servicios de atención al visitante ni es conocida por la población en general, pero realmente creo que se trata de un camino con un gran potencial al éxito, yo hice buena parte de su recorrido a pie, pero creo que con el uso de alguna especie de bus turístico se puede generar aquí una actividad tremendamente productiva, ya que como se habrán dado cuenta son kilómetros y kilómetros en donde podemos descubrir lindos paisajes, observar muchos animales y respirar un Aire 100% puro.
This is a very clear example of the deep, real and everyday Venezuela, which has many places yet to be exploited and discovered, since in the middle of its roads and routes there are real natural treasures, which give us the opportunity to capture stunning photographs, many memories and at the same time feel proud to have known these spaces that are ignored by others. The Oriente is not only beaches, coastal cities, oil and commerce, here we can also find the immensity of the plains, the freedom of the sparrow hawks and the height of the trees, walking through these lands is to enter in the middle of a kind of magical realism, where we can know first hand, the realities, experiences, dreams and legends of a population that will always welcome us in their homes with a genuine smile and a full kindness.
Este es un ejemplo muy claro de la Venezuela profunda, real y cotidiana, la cual cuenta con muchos parajes aún por explotar y descubrir, puesto que en medio de sus carreteras y rutas existen verdaderos tesoros naturales, los cuales nos regalan la oportunidad de capturar impresionantes fotografías, muchos recuerdos y al mismo tiempo sentirnos orgullosos por haber conocido esos espacios que son ignorados por otros. Oriente no es solo playas, ciudades costeras, petróleo y comercio, aquí también podremos encontrar la Inmensidad del llano, la libertad de los gavilanes y la altura de los árboles, caminar por estas tierras es adentrarse en medio de una especie de realismo mágico, en donde podemos conocer de primera mano, las realidades, las vivencias, sueños y leyendas de una población que siempre nos recibirá en sus hogares con una sonrisa genuina y una amabilidad plena.
