Here we are at the oldest oak tree in Florida, and one of the oldest around.
It's called "The Fairchild Oak", located in Ormond Beach, Florida. The tree is known to be over 400 years old. Some have estimated even older.
As you can see, this tree is HUGE. So hard to fit even parts of it in a frame.
The Spanish moss hanging from it gives it an even more auspicious and dignified look.
One of the main branches broke off some years ago. Even still the canopy is just massive.
There's also nearby hiking trails.
There are of course stories of ghost visits perhaps from one of the two deaths on the spot. One was James Ormond II who lived in the nearby house and whose body was found under the tree, with the cause of death unknown.
A second death was Norman Harwood, who is said to have killed himself under the tree due to economic depression.
We didn't see or feel the ghost(s) when there during this bright, sunny afternoon, but many report feelings of sadness and have seen the apparition of a man under the tree.
Either way, it's a great place to visit and also to hike some of the many trails in nearby Bulow Creek State Park.
That's truly amazing!
I've visited plenty of parks like that when I was younger - and I may have even been there.
My father would take us on trips like that and we went to Daytona Beach several times... so who knows!
Thank you for sharing 😊
Yes Daytona is just down the road a few miles. Likely you did visit at some point!

Wow, that is pretty cool! What a great old tree! I don't think I would like the feeling around that thing if it has that kind of energy around it!
I went with my Stepson, and neither of us noticed it. I'll have to go back out with my wife and see. She is much more sensitive to that type thing.
I'll be looking forward to hearing about it. I am not sure I have ever experienced anything like that.
Grand old sentinel! Central Florida has some really great oak hammocks with large old growth trees but none so grand at that big grandpappy. Ghosts or no ghosts, that tree is a protector.
Yes indeed. It was quite something to stand under that canopy shielded from all around it.
Woww a gaint tree. I have not seen such a big tree in my life. Have a safe journey my friend.
400 year old tree, very amazing. ... This is an example of how trees live for many years. It is now part of history.
Thanks it is certainly something just to touch and feel the vibration from something still living that is that old.
Such a huge tree standing tall from centuries

That’s a really awesome tree. I’m glad the thing hasn’t been knocked down by any of the crazy hurricanes that have afflicted Florida! We have some oaks that sway like hell in the wind rain and snow but they are strong as hell and have stayed upright.
I’d be curious to see the way my wife and son react to the energies of the area. They are more sensitive to those types of things than I am.
I don’t mean to go so off topic but I heard about this thing today and you were one of the first people I thought of. Eventually I’m going to try and get one but I’m going to ask my dad first who’s an electrician what he thinks of it.

It’s called power perfect box and it cleans up the electricity in the home. I don’t know if you’ve got one with your solar panels and you very likely might but I’ve not heard of this type of thing before. They say it’s really good to smooth out the electricity spikes we see and also is particularly relevant with houses and solar panels. Since you’ve talked a lot about your set up I figured I’d see if you had one of these things and what your experience with it is! If not, would be a decent thing to explore!
I don't know about that one, but before we got the solar, we did let the electric company put on an additional surge/spike and lightning protection box on our line. They charge a small fee of course, but it also means they pay to fix any damage caused by such things. Definitely recommend that surge protectors, and such for this area as we get a lot of spikes and surges from the storms.
