It seems that when you are used to walking, suddenly a trail of more than 10 km doesn't seem like much. Even increasingly longer trails end up becoming a challenge, as well as an invitation to see what beautiful landscapes you can discover. The city of Esquel was full of short and long trails, surrounded by beautiful nature to visit. After a stay of more than a month there I had already seen quite a bit, but there was always something else to do, like the 15 km route we found to go to La Zeta lagoon by a non-traditional path 😅.
Parece que cuando estás acostumbrado a caminar, de repente un sendero de más de 10 km no parece tanto. Incluso senderos cada vez más largos terminan transformandose en un desafío, además de una invitación para ver qué paisajes hermosos se pueden descubrir. La ciudad de Esquel estaba llena de senderos cortos y largos, rodeados de naturaleza hermosa para ir a visitar. Después de una estadía de más de un mes ahí ya había conocido bastante, pero siempre había algo más que hacer, como la ruta de 15 km que encontramos para ir a la laguna La Zeta por un camino no tradicional 😅.
La Zeta lagoon is the most famous body of water to visit in Esquel. It is very close to the city center and can be reached by car, making it very accessible to all tourists. Going to visit it was one of the first things I did when I arrived in the city, and I liked it so much on that trip that I knew it would be a place to return to a few more times to spend the day. It seems that I expressed this quite a bit, because I ended up visiting that lagoon on several occasions 😃.
La laguna La Zeta es el espejo de agua más conocido para visitar en Esquel. Queda muy cerca del centro de la ciudad y se puede llegar hasta ella en vehículo, por lo que es muy accesible para todos los turistas. Ir a visitarla fue una de las primeras cosas que hice cuando llegué a la ciudad, y en ese paseo me gustó tanto que supe que sería un lugar para volver algunas veces más a pasar el día. Se ve que esto lo manifesté bastante, porque terminé visitando esa laguna en varias oportunidades 😃.
A few days ago, while looking for new activities to do in the community, I had found a group trekking suitable for everyone organized by the University of Esquel. This trekking was a short route on a trail called Tres Arroyos, without any major difficulties since there were people of all ages. That day we walked a total of about 5 km there and back, only completing part of the trail because the idea was to do a little physical activity and get to know the surroundings. The activity was good, but not much compared to what I am used to 😅.
Hacia algunos días atrás, en busca de nuevas actividades para hacer en la comunidad, me había encontrado con un trekking grupal apto para todo público organizado por la universidad de Esquel. Este trekking fue un recorrido corto en un sendero llamado Tres Arroyos, sin mayores dificultades ya que había gente de todas las edades. Ese día caminamos en total unos 5 km entre ida y vuelta, solo completando una parte del camino porque la idea era hacer un poco de actividad física y conocer los alrededores. La actividad estuvo bien, pero bastante poco para lo que yo estoy acostumbrada 😅.
On that day, the guide decided to end the hike at a random spot in the middle of the trail, in a wide space where we had our picnic with the group. But I saw that the trail continued beyond and I dared to ask where it went. That's when he told me that this trail allowed us to reach La Zeta lagoon in a distance of about 15 km. This seemed great to me, because the lagoon is inclined towards the east of the city and its access is from the other side, but from that point you could also get there on foot. "Interesting" I thought, "I definitely have to go back to complete the whole trail. 😃"
En esa jornada, el guía de la caminata decidió terminarla en un lugar random en el medio del camino, en un espacio amplio donde tuvimos nuestro picnic con el grupo. Pero yo ví que el camino continuaba más allá y me atreví a preguntar hasta donde iba. Ahí fue cuando él me dijo que este sendero permitía llegar hasta la laguna La Zeta en un recorrido de unos 15 km. Esto me pareció genial, porque la laguna está inclinada hacia el este de la ciudad y su acceso es por el otro lado, per igualmente desde ese punto se podía llegar caminando. "Interesante" pensé, "definitivamente tengo que volver para completar todo el camino" 😃.
When I got back home, I told my coworkers about the existence of this trail and, as they also enjoy walking, they did not hesitate to join us for a future trek. Well, just two days later we made it happen, on a day when the weather was nice and we were able to visit this place without any major problems. The trail is perfectly marked and also appears on offline maps, so it is almost impossible to get lost. We enjoyed it very much 😃.
Cuando volví a casa, le conté a mis compañeras de trabajo sobre la existencia de este camino y, como también disfrutan caminar, no dudaron en unirse a una travesía futura. Bueno, solo dos días después la concretamos, en un día en el que el buen clima nos acompañó y pudimos visitar este lugar sin mayores problemas. El camino está perfectamente marcado y también aparece en los mapas sin conexión, por lo que es casi imposible perderse. Lo disfrutamos mucho 😃.
The only obstacle we had along the way was a closed gate almost reaching the lake. Often these fences are there for the passage of loose animals and we assumed this when we jumped over them despite the locks. It was great to reach the lake from the west, since every time you reach it from the other side, the landscape is different. After walking for almost three hours, we were finally able to stop to rest and have lunch 😃.
El único obstáculo que tuvimos en todo el camino fue una tranquera cerrada casi llegando a la laguna. Muchas veces estos cercos están por una cuestión de paso de animales sueltos y supusimos eso al momento de saltar por encima a pesar de los candados. Fue genial llegar a la laguna por su parte oeste, ya que siempre que se llega a ella por el otro lado, el paisaje es diferente. Después de caminar por casi tres horas, finalmente pudimos parar a descansar y a tomar nuestro almuerzo 😃.
La Zeta lagoon is very beautiful and it is not surprising that it is the most visited, although I must say that its companion, the Willmanco lagoon, is also beautiful and not far behind. However, this lagoon is more exploited at a tourist level since there is a restaurant where it is possible to buy food, there are public bathrooms and also a kayak and bicycle rental service. It also has several trails in its surroundings, which makes it much more "explorable". I really liked this place ❤️.
La laguna La Zeta es muy hermosa y no sorprende que sea la más visitada, aunque debo decir que su compañera, la laguna Willmanco, también es linda y no se queda atrás. Sin embargo, esta laguna está más explotada a nivel turístico ya que en ella hay un parador en donde es posible comprar comida, hay baños públicos y también un servicio de alquiler de kayaks y bicicletas. También cuenta con varios senderos en sus alrededores, lo que la vuelve mucho más "explorable". Me gustó mucho este lugar ❤️.
The good thing about this route was that to get back home we didn't have to retrace our steps, but instead we had to continue up the original climb that we already knew. We even found a shortcut that allowed us to get back a little faster on a fairly steep path, but effective for our descent. In the process we were able to appreciate the sunset on our way back, just in time before my workmates and I had to start work at the hostel at 8 PM 😅.
Lo bueno que tuvo esta ruta es que para volver a casa no tuvimos que regresar sobre nuestros pasos, sino que tuvimos que continuar camino por la subida original que ya conocíamos. Incluso encontramos un atajo que nos permitió volver un poco más rápido por un camino bastante empinado, pero efectivo para nuestra bajada. De paso pudimos apreciar el atardecer en nuestro regreso, justo a tiempo antes de que mis compañeras y yo tuvieramos que empezar a trabajar en el hostel a las 8 PM 😅.
I really enjoyed this whole trip and I was glad to have found it thanks to the university trekking group. It was a good idea to have done the whole loop again, and I spent the whole afternoon with my friends, gossiping about life and work. I really like these exercise plans and having fun among those beautiful mountains: it is certainly the real reward after making all these long trips ❤️.

Fue una buena idea haber vuelto a completar toda la vuelta, además de que pasé toda la tarde con mis compañeras, chismoseando sobre la vida y el trabajo.
