In the land of good and cheap wines, it is almost obligatory to visit the wineries that make them. Of course, visiting the wineries also means tasting what is produced, so that the whole trip is worthwhile. In the town of Cafayate in the province of Salta there are several wineries to visit, and in the warm days that spring gave us, it was always a good plan to visit one of them. With such privileged locations, who wouldn't want to spend the day in such beautiful places 😃?
En la tierra de los buenos vinos y baratos, es casi obligatorio tener que ir a conocer las bodegas que los fabrican. Por supuesto, conocer las bodegas también implica degustar lo producido, como para que todo el paseo termine por valer la pena. En el pueblo de Cafayate en la provincia de Salta existen varias bodegas para ir a recorrer, y en los días calurosos que nos regaló la primavera, siempre era un buen plan ir a visitar alguna de ellas. Con ubicaciones tan privilegiadas, ¿quién no querría ir a pasar el día en lugares tan hermosos como esos 😃?
During my stay in Cafayate at the end of August last year, I was lucky enough to have a few hot days. In the first half of the year I had been travelling in the south of Argentina with rather cold temperatures, so going north was something I wanted to do. These warm days made me want to do some trekking, but also to relax a bit in nature. Of course you could do this on a random mountain, but it was more interesting to visit a winery on the way 😅.
Durante mi estadía en Cafayate a fines del mes de agosto del año pasado, tuve la suerte de tener unos cuantos días calurosos. En la primera mitad del año había estado viajando en el sur de Argentina con temperaturas más bien frías, por lo que ir para el norte era algo que quería hacer. Estos días cálidos daban ganas de hacer algo de trekking, pero también de relajarse un poco en la naturaleza. Por supuesto que se podía ir a hacer esto a alguna montaña random, pero era más interesante poder visitar alguna bodega de paso 😅.
One winery I had been recommended to visit was Finca Las Nubes. It was 6 km from town, so I had to take a taxi to avoid walking along a boring vehicular road. Luckily, there was a guest at the hostel that day who had no plans and we arranged to go together and share the price of the transfer. For $3 each and a ride of about 15 minutes, we were already at the entrance of this beautiful place 😃.
Una bodega que me habían recomendado visitar era la de Finca Las Nubes. Se encontraba a 6 km del pueblo, por lo que tuve que ir en taxi para no caminar por una aburrida calle vehicular. Por suerte, ese día en el hostel había un huésped que no tenía ningún plan y coordinamos para ir juntos y compartir el precio del traslado. Por $3 cada uno y un viaje de unos 15 minutos, ya estabamos en la entrada de este lugar hermoso 😃.
Finca Las Nubes offered the typical guided tour of the facilities and tasting at the end of the tour for $10. This was the most expensive tour I saw in Cafayate, as the rest cost between $3 and $6. The guest and I agreed that it was too expensive for a visit, so we preferred to stay in the restaurant, at an outdoor table enjoying the scenery. We didn't make the visit but ordered a bottle of a white Torrontés wine, the star grape of this part of my country. We paid $7 for it, which divided by two was almost nothing and it was so hot and the wine was so fresh and delicious that we drank it all while we chatted 😅.
Finca Las Nubes ofrecía la típica visita guiada por las instalaciones y degustación al finalizar el recorrido por un costo de $10. Esta fue la visita más costosa que vi en Cafayate, ya que el resto costaba entre $3 y $6. El huésped y yo coincidimos en que era demasiado costoso para una visita, así que preferimos quedarnos en el restaurante, en una mesa al aire libre disfrutando del paisaje. No hicimos la visita pero igualmente ordenamos una botella de un vino blanco torrontés, la cepa estrella de esta zona de mi país. Pagamos por ella $7, que dividido entre dos no fue casi nada y hacía tanto calor y el vino estaba tan fresco y delicioso que nos tomamos todo mientras charlabamos 😅.
Finca Las Nubes has beautiful facilities: from the area where the restaurant tables are located you can have a great view of the vineyard and the mountains of Cafayate. At the time I went, it was not grape season, so all the vineyards were empty. However, the wine supply never runs out here so that was not a problem. I was very pleased that I went to see this winery and that for only $6.5 I had a cool afternoon in a beautiful setting, escaping the oppressive heat of the town that day 😀.
Finca Las Nubes tiene unas instalaciones hermosas: desde la zona en donde están ubicadas las mesas del restaurante se puede tener una gran vista del viñedo y de las montañas de Cafayate. Para el momento en el que fui yo no era temporada de uvas, por lo que todos los viñedos estaban vacíos. Sin embargo, el abastecimiento de vino nunca se acaba en este lugar así que eso no fue un problema. Me gustó mucho haber ido a conocer esta bodega y que por solo $6.5 tuve una tarde fresca y en un lugar muy hermoso, escapando del calor agobiante que hacía ese día en el pueblo 😀.

Que finca más hermosa, que bueno que hayas podido ir y disfrutar de un rico vino y buena compañía. A pesar de que no habían uvas en los viñedos la experiencia lo vale todo. Tomar vino y mirar todo lo que hay allí debe ser magnífico.
